I just checked i think that is a just a release mark , it's caused by surface oil that is present to get the ball out of the mold . The wall is still a uniform thickness .

I don't know what wizardry you are talking of, but the ball does have an inconsistency in the wall at the "bobble" part. You can see it in profile and you can feel it when you draw your finger across it (I love fingering balls).

That being said, I'm sure it'll be fine. Balls get chewed up (I love chewing balls) pretty quickly anyway.

Fuck it, I'm out. I'll just order Harvey heads and Perro shafts next time around.
The shipping & potential duties etc is madness. Its not worth it.
Maybe if people are going to Seattle they can pick some bits and bobs while they're there.

If indeed there is a difference in thickeness and is quite substantial, it will distort the movement of the ball, i.e. increased curvy passes & plenty of movement when the ball is in the air (banana shot?)

If you put it on a flat table it will "favour" that spot (and you can sort of spin it along the indent of the ring) but it's really quite slight and any force knocks it out of that ridge. I'm keen to give Rik's poles a test run across London... I was having a detailed look at it last night (verniers along the length and "whip" test compared to a Perros). It looks good.

It's definitely marginally different to a Perros (which I'm a big fan of), we'll see how it plays this weekend/next week I guess, generally Rik knows his stuff.

My Rik shaft will be built up and tested soon too, just waiting on some plastic for mallet caps.

Right. I'm going to cancel the MKE order, everyone is dropping like flies, and it's just too much risk to the association.

Obviously feel free to organise it yourself if you want, but from now on I'm going to be sticking to European products.

So, for people who want heads, I suggest you speak directly to Max, but I'm happy to look into any european based heads.

For poles, there is a choice of Perro del Mallet, which will probably work out at about £8-9, or Rik poles, which will be about £6-£7.

I'm happy to take orders from other UK scenes, but I won't be posting them on, either collect them from London, or get someone to bring them to you. If you want them posted directly to you talk to Rik or Alejandro directly.

I've been using one of Rik's poles for about a month now, I'm really happy with it. It's very similar to the Perro poles, maybe a little bit stiffer. A couple of other people testing them as well.
