  • Happy world vegan day, folks.
    Wooo!
Alas also the day I have been told I am not allowed vegan meals here - so it's more quiche, macaroni cheese, egg mayo salads for me :( Can I go home yet?

  • What's the anti-vegan rationale? They just not set up for it, or is there something more subtle going on with regards to attitudes to dietary control?

  • I'd guess they're just not set up for it.

  • What about Sunday the 20th November for RASA?

  • By the way, there is an excellent creperie in Brixton which is both vegetarian and vegan friendly:

  • What about Sunday the 20th November for RASA?

On a Cambridge ride, that day. Not sure I'll be back in time.

  • Any other votes/views on a date?

  • DJ and I went to Tibits yesterday. Can't believe I didn't know about it before. As far as I'm concerned it is the best veggie buffet I've been to in London. You chose from dozens of Ottolenghi-esque dishes (minus the tahini and cardamon) and pay by weight. We piled our plates very high and with drinks the bill came to £40. Not somewhere I could afford to go to every day but made a nice change for a Saturday lunch.

Not set up for it and many don't think it's acceptable. Frustrating, especially since the new Muslim girl is allowed Halal without eyebrows being raised or questions asked.

Go with the 20th. If I miss it, I miss it.

Was at Vanilla Black for lunch, last week. Gorgeous food and the lunchtime set menu deal is well worth it, although vegans might need to go a la carte.

Sounds nice, but pricey. Any chance that could have had something to do with attracting DJ to it? ;)

OK, 20th it is, then. Hope you get back in time.

RASA N16, 55 Stoke Newington Church Street, not to be confused with RASA Travancore at number 56, which is a meat restaurant.

    Sunday 20th November, 7pm.

  • Bump. There seems to be no great interest in this. Would people prefer a different date or a different restaurant?

  • 20th is the cambridge ride, which may explain the lack of interest.

  • What about the 27th, then?

  • Possible, I won't make it but other will.

  • Someone else pick a restaurant and date, please. Whenever I try to, the result seems to be only tumbleweed. :)

  • I found this a few days ago:

Anyone keen to go? Sounds like a forum drinks, only without gear inch fetishists. :)

    .

  • Has anyone been to Ragged Canteen in Vauxhall? Looks good.

  • I haven't been.

Would you propose that as the destination of our next nosh-up?

  • Definitely, a some throw from the g/f's place, will ask her if she been there before.

  • It's only open in the day time. We should really do a nosh-up this month though.

How about dinner at the Rasa in Dering Street W1S?

Selfishly this is much easier for me than Stokey.

    I'll suggest a few dates: 13, 17, 18, 20, 25 April.

    What works for everyone else?

  • Being quite keen to actually meet some forum members, as I am yet to do so, I can do any of the dates that la mouse suggested. Then again, that is of course If it does not require an invite to attend ;-)

I'm always up for going to RASA, but W1 isn't vegetarian--and hasn't it become RASA Samudra now?

And Stoke Newington is of course very easy to get to. :)

(I'm not suggesting it because I live near there, but because it really is good. That said, the last time I proposed it, no-one was interested in going there.)

    You're so very welcome Jake!
