I have the 25mm folding version, but after 2 months use the tyre is shredded to pieces, its not been skidded to death, but has deep lacerations all over, and is now bulging at one side
anyone able to suggest a 25mm puncture resistant tyre that grips well?

Hmm.. bugger coz I have two of these now (in 28mm) that I was going to fit to the Kinesis to replace the Marathon Plus 25mm rear and Vittoria Rubino Pro 23 front.

i am thinking fuck it
just keep on using pro race 3 for winter
cost about as much as these puncture proof tyres and last as long! plus they roll better and grip better

Pro Race definitely don't last as long as either of my current tyres. Given my high mileage and the fact I'm going to be in the middle of nowhere at night in the pissing rain I'm going for what should be more durable tyres. Of course, if these Duranos are shit I'll let you all know about it. :)

How about the Vittoria Open Pave CG?

have seen this

has anyone tried the gator hardshell?

the gatorskin hardshells are my recommended skidding tyre. Extremely hard wearing and pretty good grip. Bit hard to put on though.

I've been riding brakeless with a 28c hardshell on the back for about 6 months and its got a lot of life left in it still, I've had no punctures too.

I love Vittoria Pave tyres but they're too expensive for high-mileage training.

Grippy in the wet?

They're designed for classics riding on nasty Belgian Pave - whatchureckon? They have great grip.

That's what I thought, worth while checking though.

Much nicer ride and handling with this 28mm Durano Plus on the Kinesis T2 than the 25mm Marathon Plus this replaces. A bit lighter too.
Obviously durability will be less than the MP but I'm ok with that. -

pretty much anything feels nicer to ride on that the Marathon Plus.

i'd like to add maxxis refuses and panaracer paselas to the list of good puncture proof tyres

6 months really?

But how long will they last.. that's the crux of the issue.

You mean there's a list, and those tyres aren't in it? Well, I never. Somebody should make a list, and those tyres definitely should be in it. This forum really is no good at all.

Yeah but the lots of life comment might have been a little optimistic, its started to wear through now.

I'd like to back up what has been said about the Halo Courier Berlin. It is a great anti puncture tyre and good for commuting, but so dangerous when cornering. I only have a Berlin on the back wheel (Maxxis on front), and yesterday was a quite wet cold day on the road. I was riding down London rd in South London and while cornering, the wheel lost suddenly grip and here I go hitting the ground at 20mph in a busy junction with the bike spinning around. Lucky I wasn't carry my d-lock on my waist. I wasn't on any manhole cover neither any white painted line for the record. I blame the massive wall this tyre has which gives it no grip on cornering. I also found out that on the rest of the painful trip, the wheel kept on slipping on any white lines and manhole covers, really badly.
I would not recommend this as a bad weather tyre. This is the second time it happened to me (but first time was on dead leaves). However, 6 months on and no puncture with really bad road conditions and daily use for commuting. Not sure though if I will keep it as it broke my confidence on cornering and I now corner very large on wet roads since yesterday.

I've washed out on grippy MTB tyres while cornering, so I wouldn't necessarily dismiss the tyre. There may have been a patch of oil, also was it a negative camber at all? And then the ultimate question, how fast where you going?
There's rigid versions of the Durano Plus in 28 and 32. Do they not do these in a kevlar bead form?
