"we found a spot that might be able to host the event the first weekend of june. If they confirm with us, then we keep those dates. If they say they can't do it, then it'll be the last weekend of june..."
"Here is the first batch of spots allocated to each country. Spots were chosen on the base of the pre-registration sheet filled by the cities, which gave us an idea of not only the number of players in each country, but also the strength of their communities.
UK 10
Germany 8
France 8
Italy 7
Spain 5
Switzerland 5
Benelux 3
Hungary 1Portugal 1
Total: 48 teams.
We are making sure we can have a wildcard tourney, so that those that couldn't make it in their local qualifiers can still come and play." -

UK Champs or city split ??
-
• #307
Not enough time to rely on UK champs?
City split like last year I guess.
Have Barcelona mentioned when they expect to hear back about this new location.

• #308
I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss it.... hopefully they'll be able to say yey or ney on the spot.

Awesome.
Good luck!

Is the nationals even confirmed/being talked about?
-
• #311
Planning for an awesome potential nationals is in hand, watch this space... it won't be complete in time for the Euros though so we'll have to find another way?
Ale, having the dates asap would be cool as we're trying to organise some cool UK based polo stuff around it, cheers matey.

Also, if it is going to be the start of June, the three-month-advance cheap travel date is in a few days.
-
• #313
I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed that you will get this venue for the first weekend in June - it would make me the happiest polo wag ever!

UK Champs or city split ??
We'll have to wait and see what Spain decide i guess. It's not up to us.
-
• #315
It's a massive compliment to the British polo scene that we have the most spots.
From what I saw at the Cambridge tourney, the level of many of the smaller scenes has improved immeasurably over the last 12 months.
-
• #316
Agreed, a few of those teams had only formed over the last few months, good stuff.

LOBP update says definitely NOT June 4th/5th. Seems like 25th/26th.
Not clear which way they're going to go on country/city selection, although the way I read it they're likely to leave it up to each country to sort for themselves:
*"We are making sure we can have a wildcard tourney, so that those that couldn't make it in their local qualifiers can still come and play*."

Okay, we're going to need to organise a national qualifier tournament or alternative way of deciding, pronto.

I can't remember, will london league champ get automatic euro spot?

I can't remember, will london league champ get automatic euro spot?
That's what I remember being decided.
Of course, that was dependent on how the spots would be allocated.
-
• #322
Only if London is allocated the spots by city.
We've possibly got an awesome venue/date/tourney planned for the UK Champs, but it's likely to be a week or two before the Euros themselves.
Maybe we could ask Ale to allocate the spots to UK scenes/cities based on the data he received? Any other ideas anyone?
-
• #323
I notice (the Republic of) Ireland is not on the list of places being allocated spots. Curious as to whether this is simply because they haven't been, or they are accidentally being included in the UK.

Edinburgh
Newcastle
Birmingham
Bristol
London
Manchester
Cardiff
Sheffield
Brighton
OxfordOh shit, that's 10 spots.
We need a quali.

Eire is being included in the UK intentionally. I remember discussing this with Emmet a while back, maybe in Rouen.
With regard to community respect. At least the folks on this forum pick fights with people they know. LOBP is a different story.
