Gradients can't be slow :p
Cranley's okay for fixed training. I used it for the worst kind - undergeared out of the saddle climbing. Lactic meltdown :O

Mebe. It'll depend on your pain threshold.

ha ha ha, i'm going to be so slow, but i am looking forward to it - a lot. i hope the weather is like today.
going to get some pastries from dunns now, i'm not going in to uni so need to get out of the house and do some reading in a cafe.
yay.

Ariana's Cafe, 67 Fonthill Rd. Lovely little place, friend of mine used to work there so it's where I spent a lot of my not-at-uni out-of-the-house reading time.
(I miss north sometimes) -

i googled it, does look nice, but in opposite direction to Dunns, will have to visit it soon though with let you know :)

Should be a cross London pastry ride, but damn good idea.

okay, I've just skimmed through the all the bloody threads, I presume this is still on 16 January, but:

I missed this, but it will surely happen...when the days are slightly longer and the backroads are not paved with perilously glossy ice.

Any chance I can get added to the reserves?
New to the city and 4 months removed from any road climbing action. -

As long as you do it fixed...

I can't do this now, which massively sucks. Doctor's orders though. I can't ride at all for the next 4-6 weeks, apart from perhaps some very gentle commuting.
I'm bumping Wools onto the list.
If someone gives me an eta at the pub I will come for post-ride beers!

Oh hello, 2011!
Happy to be in the list but tis a shame it's under such circumstances. Hope you get better soon, Rich. Don't rush the healing process! :)

Nothing too much to worry about though, so don't sweat it. Just a bit of a bummer, that's all. I just didn't know what the recovery time would be from some fairly routine surgery- hoped I would be good to go by now, turns out it's a bit longer, nothing earth-shattering though!
Just let me join y'all in the pub :-)

A quick bump to remind everyone on the list that this is coming up on Sunday. I think, and this is where my bump turns into a posed problem, we start at 7.30 from Kings Cross.
Friday: This right/wrong?

8am it says further up...

Yes, prolly best to stick with 0800. It'll get a bit congested if we leave it too late.
Also, this ride is a quick blast around the block. All in I reckon about 1:45 (plus extra for Souths). Good? Good.
I just thought I'd say. We seem to be all audax stylee at the minute and I wasn't sure that caning (Swaining) around the hills for a cuppla hours would be to everyone's taste.

Fuck, I just used the first person plural personal pronoun in reference to my relationship with this forum.
That's obviously too great a degree of familiarity, sorry.

Also, this ride is a quick blast around the block.
Maybe for you...
I'm not planning on caning it, given current levels of post Christmas and New Year fitness.
That said though, I'm not planning on being that slow, but a 15.5mph average may be pushing it slightly. Two hours would sound more plausible to me.
I meant the gradient, obviously.
Sounds fun though!
Isn't it a bit of a pain stopping to swap your cog and chainring half way up every time though?
