  • I have been also. Due to the madness of Tokyo's street naming it was a total bitch to find.

    It's in another language?

Should have searched for directions ;]

well, that... and the postal system in general in japan is just bloody stupid

It's actually very logical, in it's way.

Which is not to say it makes any sense...

  • hah!

I like to make it hard for myself. I paced between Harijuku and Shibuya for about 2 hours.

  • It's in another language?

If memory serves me right instead of roads you have Districts, Sub-districts, Blocks and Buildings.

It adds up to a lot of numbers.

  • Did the same looking for a club in Kabuki-Cho.

Except I cocked up the numbering and was on the far side of Shinjuku in a suburban housing estate...

  • there a month ago, feel free to PM any questions

  • went. expensive. upstairs.

  • go. punch. instead.

  • wise. words. indeed.

  • don't. have. photos. from. there.

  • here. some. taken. last. summer:

    taken. phone. excuse. quality.

  • punch. cycle. for. the. win.

  • Anyone been to Carnival in Japan?
The Red Stripe costs a fortune and the policemen don't dance... :-(

  • Konichiwa.

I'm going to Japan in the summer and though someone on here knows how much a keirin frame costs in Japan in comparison to the UK.

    Sianara.

  • I think £200ish, if you meant 2nd hand, someone here went to Japan (or is from Japan) and show us several photos of keirin frame for sales for about £120 to £300 depending on the condition.

  • You can see some prices on this site

    http://njsframes.blogspot.com/

    And this one

    njs-keirin.blogspot.com/

The first is also a shop, you should rop by if you had the chance!

  • They cost so much that they only ever get sold second hand once they have been crashed and can't officially be raced again. So that will be fine usually.

    Enjoy!

(not the one I'm talking about but that should give you a good pricing idea).

that's for the US customer, not the Japanese, hence the huge price mark-up.

  • my brother lives in tokyo. i've mentioned the possibilities of sending bits back recently.
may have to see what comes of it if i ever have money to spare

  • just a note, I got lucky, repaired frame bought off another frame builders.
Punch in Asakusa in Tokyo is your best bet for ease( if you speak japanese) of shopping otherwise find out the dates of local velodrome jumbles, and hope.

prices right now have gotten inflated due to increasing popularity in Tokyo. as here.
As of last week, expect to pay around £200-700 for anything from a raced bike to a brand spanking new san rensho I saw.
Bargains can still be had, just less of them.

Anchors and Bridgestones are the base keirin bikes, so they are the cheapest, usually.
There has been a huge influx of Vivalo's to the market due to the loss of the njs certification so they can be found too.

go nuts and get yourself a Level

  • check this guy out i just bought a giro off him, which is pretty much brand new for £350

sry to burst the bubble here, but how do u suggest people buy keirin frames then, other than go over to Tokyo and buy them there, by which time including flights and what not, the cost is still quite astronomical.
