If your friend goes to osaka, tell them to go to 'track supermarket'
The 7710 crankset prices are pretty good there: $289 = approx £185

I'm going to Japan this winter and was looking to bring back some NJS/track parts to sell. I'm looking to spend around 1-2k on parts and send them over by ship.
What are some of the rarer components that you'd like to see, but are hard to get in the UK?
Is it worth bringing back Nitto bars or are they too widely available already?
Any suggestions of stuff to get?I speak pretty decent Japanese and I have a friend that knows the Tokyo fixed-gear scene pretty well so we're going to search all over and see what we can find.

wouldn't bother unless you are getting wholesale prices the exchange rate is shocking and some stuff can be had cheaper here.
NJS ship has sailed.......

^ Probably this.
Although I've never been able to get hold of 31.8 clamp diameter Nitto bars over here. But then again, I'm not looking for some anymore.

Hard to get here but available in Japan for a reasonable price? Framesets. Araya Tita Ace rims and Suntour Superbe components are hard to get here and will cost a lot over there so not worth it if you plant to make a profit.
Soyo Gold Star tyres are hard to find and whenever they get sold they go for loads it seems. If you can get any that have been raced i.e. have scrutineer stamps on them, you'll have a few people drooling over them.

I looked at Soyo Gold Stars online and they're 18,900 Yen (155 quid!). Maybe I can get them cheaper in a shop over there. Will also look for some raced ones if they're worth it. Exchange rate is insane.

I got some cro mo 31.8 SSB from Hubjub who ordered from EAI. Clamp area was just a teenie tiny bit too narrow for a Pro Vibe Track stem so my dream of most brutally stiff bar stem combo ever was dashed. TFG have the alu version

I would be really surprised if you could make this work. As metioned above the exchange rate is insane at the moment - it's true some stuff is cheaper here. When I was in Japan I heard riders are buying stuff online at Wiggle UK!
Even 2nd hand bike parts from a store or stuff on Yahoo auctions such as frames are still high priced.
How about spending on the money on used Brooks saddles and Bob Jackson frames then shipping them over there?

I wear nothing round the house. I wear jimbe at my freestyle rap battles, gives me an air of mystery.

What is people's opinion of these Panasonic frames? http://www.tracksupermarket.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=198
I already have one in London that just needs putting together, though the new builds are a tad more convenient as it uses standard spacing and axle widths.
use a Campag Centaur BB for SG75, sealed modern BB not loose bearings much more reliable and service free.
