The bus CCTV was off? Then what's the point?
Hope you heal up fast Josh, lucky escape mate. -
• #78
^the cctv on the road was off, don't know about the bus one yet.
just spoken to my dad, insured with direct line, apparently someone from evander cycles has to validate the claim or something, but hopefully the insurance quote from my housemate will mean that i don't have to faff around with someone coming out to have a look at it.

Hey Josh, just seen this, hope you're healing up ok mate...
-
• #80
I missed this completely, Josh--good luck with the recovery, and I'm glad it didn't become more serious! Get well soon.

walking pretty much without crutches now.
spoke to evander valuation services or something. very difficult as they don't really have provision for a non-OTP bike. took about 5 minutes to explain the difference between buying a steamroller frame only and an OTP complete steamroller. so i had to list all the parts off the top of my head and of course goldtec hubs and velosolo chainrings weren't on their fucking system. completely mental. i could have said i had sugino 75's, rare NJS track frame blah blah blah, they weren't even interested in the quote i have from brixton cycles for repair, just seems like they want me to settle for an OTP steamroller.
-
• #82
Make sure they dont do that. It isnt OTP so make sure they know that. If they send you a quote for one dont accept it. Make sure you get enough.
Also get damages for your ingeries, say something like you wernt as retarded before the crash. They will never know... ;)
Oh, and glad your off the crutches and healing up. Norths soon?

yeah, after a while the person i was speaking to said "we specialise in working with a few shops such as evans and halfords, but i will tell direct line how much it would cost to replace your bike and they will probably give you a cheque" but i can imagine this being a ball ache. they didn't want to know about the quote i have from brixton cycles, which seems fucked up as that is the simplest and most easily verifiable valuation short of sending a bike nerd out to look the thing over.
in regards to the injuries, i am waiting for the police to get back to me, and in talks with tibbs (shinigami) about claiming from TfL, as apparently they know the paint they use is dangerous to cycles but use it anyway.
and one day this winter i will come up, but is isn't the most enticing of ideas after riding 40 miles all day then a massive hill then ten miles home, but i s'pose pizza offsets that somewhat.
-
• #84
You s'pose that our sintalizing company more than makes up for it! ;)
On the other hand , maybe you are right.
If the quote they give you is less than the Brixton cycles one then carry on with the clame. Maybe take it to an evans. They will also be able to give you a quote for something not OTP.

Ah, the perils of working for "one of London's best courier companies". What were you doing Max, dancing for small change outside a tube station again?
-
• #91
Actually it was something very stupid and incredibly embarassing.
Fucked if I'm telling you.

Eggs-actly.... I was brung up in Farnham.... :-)

Lived there for 4 years, never felt so isolated.

Not surprisingly I moved back to London after leaving 6th form and only ever returned to see my Mum. I would go bonkers if I was told to live there full time.... it's great if you're loaded, and have 2.2 kids, a labradoodle, and a Volvo Estate.... otherwise.... er, it's London Famous London for me all the way. Some of the countryside outside of the town was still very lovely, the army training areas near Hankley for example, but.... what do you do other than go ... awww lovely, and then go back home for a large G&T?!

hope you're back on the bike soon and that you get the amount of money you deserve josh -
• #100
oh i'll never get the money that i* deserve*...
rang em again today, pu me on hold while they chased the valuation services then rang me back later so i rang them back later but the opening times on their website are wrong so they were closed.
yes... all this is not untrue... I also had many twisted ankles and that kind of stuff, both sides, worst one being in a motorbike accident where my ankle got pinched/clamped between the car's rim/wheel and my motorbike engine, but don't be too alarmed by what you read here... I believe the difference between a clean broken bone and messed-up soft tissues is mainly time, and you are young, you will be fine, listen to doctors recommandations, etc... After all my troubles at my ankles, I cycle everyday, climbed the Mont Blanc, went skying, etc... Treat the thing seriously, be patient and you will be fine...
