  • Thanks dammit made more sense with drawings.

We've had the offer accepted on the place we saw yesterday. Bloody exciting times.

  • Yeah, that's the tricky bit isn't it, getting rid of a long heavy thing on a cyclists forum ;-)
But gumtree is called scumtree for a reason, freecycling there always becomes a hassle.

I could possibly pick it up later, let me check what I'm doing- I need to fit in going to wish Digger happy birthday with going to the gym, having dinner with my girlfriend and feeding the cats.

  • Sure, I'll be at home or close to home most of the weekend. Let me know how you get on.

  • Small room, I think it should be ok. If not, I can always get a fan with more grunt and move this one to the other bathroom which is as the name suggests- a room with a bath, rather than a shower, so steam levels will be much lower.

  • Nice,I have this one http://youtu.be/5HJFqO5K8Mg

    Mine was cheaper than that.

  • Touche

  • photo of home made saw rail

But what did you use to cut the rail?

  • I haz this;

  • But what did you use to cut the rail?

I clamped some bamboo floorboards to the ply, cut down them- they are, according to my larger level, dead straight.

    Show-off.

Don't suppose you have a 100mm core drill?

  • I just bought a core drill set, it contains a 100mm core drill...

  • Awesome, see you tomorrow, I'll have the coffee machine on.

  • If you still need it in a couple of weeks I could bring it up if you don't mind posting it back.

  • Hopefully the extractor is going to arrive tomorrow, so I may well end up buying one from Wickes tomorrow.

Diamond or TCT do you reckon?

  • Not sure on the benefits of either. Diamond sounds flash.

If you're only going to use it the once then Aldi have a core drill set for £25.

  • Pikey foam it...

  • Nein!

107mm, that is seven mm too many.

You'll be probably be fine with the 107 mm - it depends on what ducting you're using. Grey '4"' soil pipe is actually about 110 mm outside dia. and you usually use a 115 core bit for it. I usuall y use 4" soil pipe for fan ducts through walls as there is usually some around.
I have a bunch of different core drills but can't get them 'till Monday -if that works for you you can borrow.
you'll need at least a 2kg SDS drill though

  • SDS I have- the DeWalt in the photo up-thread.

EDIT although having just read this it looks like it's only rated for a 65mm core bit.

    Bugger.

  • This is an old sketch-plan that might make more sense:

what the new plan? i saw it somewhere but months ago

  • Hopefully the extractor is going to arrive tomorrow, so I may well end up buying one from Wickes tomorrow.

Diamond or TCT do you reckon?

TCT is useless for anything harder than a thermal block. Get diamond.

Although it's changed since then- the bathroom design didn't survive first contact with the enemy.

    Bugger.

    That is a guide only
    ;-)
if the wall is reasonably soft brick (ie not engineering brick or concrete) you'll be alright.
I use my Makita 2kg SDS occasionally for cutting 100 mm holes in London Stock brick etc.

Also RPM is totally right -diamond is the only way to go.

i see i can see the shower is that now an ensuit?

  • Do you have a baby grand piano?
