Does anyone understand R7S bulbs?
I need a replacement for a 117mm variant. The old one is halogen, 230W energy saver with a claimed 4650 lumens.
I'm after an led replacement and can't tolerate any reduction in brightness.

What prep should I be doing to my floorboards prior to carpeting? They are creaky, so will screw down the creaky ones, but they are also drafty. Will decent underlay take care of all that or should I try and seal them better?

Careful where you screw....
If you are worried newspaper under the underlay. Have seen damp proof membrane used before.

Is there a gas safety person on here? In North London. Would like a cert on a boiler and a gas hob and don't fancy giving money to an arse who says things like ah can't get the parts so needs a replacement boiler. Then has a go at charging £50 for a generic sensor, not fitting just the sensor when it cost £less than £20 for the proper valiant sensor at the plumbing place 5 minutes walk.

For Vailant in North London I'd go with

Ta. If I use screws no longer than the floorboard plus joist thickness I should be alright?
-
• #13433
What about cables in notches on the top of the joist? With missing/ damaged cover plates?
-
• #13434
I should probably lift the floor boards and have a look shouldn't I. Thanks for the warning.

Any forum recommendations for a SE London plumber?
Looking to replace a bath and install a new shower and re-tile.
-
• #13436
No worries. I found some cables had wandered in my own flat when securing a floorboard.

Thanks.
And when those self fixing plasterboard screws fail to grip in the plasterboard, it's totes ok to smother everything in no nails right? -

Good.

This is the DIY way.

GripIt fixings are the best plasterboard fixings I've found yet.
A bit spendy but they work like a charm.

I've just cut open the tube of no nails and smeared it all over the fucking place.
Aaaasssrgh.

just stuck a tv on our wall with them, solid as a rock.

One of the client's sites was remodelled by dickheads on fuck all money. Must have used the cheapest materials they could find.
I went through at least four types of plasterboard fixings until I found these. Only ones that haven't fallen out yet.

...and if they can't fit you in @Stonehedge we've just had ours re-done (old suite completely gutted and replaced, tiled walls and floor) by Paul at Southern Bathrooms who I'd recommend.
We're Dartford based, but pretty sure he'd head into SE London.

I also just put up 4 lots of shelving using these hollow wall anchors which you use a gun shaped setting tool to fit, once you get the hang of installing them it takes about a minute to do each one and they're never coming out. once they're in they're in. bit of a shit if you put it in the wrong place though.
felt the grip its might be more heavy duty for the tv though as they're fecking huge.

Bought a packet of the GripIt but I've had them for a year without a reason to use them yet. Vitsoe supply some wicked plasterboard fixings which work very very well but they need a good 2 inches of space behind the plasterboard, not sure of the make but its a fairly well known brand.

I use these normally
https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-self-drill-plasterboard-fixings-metal-32mm-100-pack/81139But when the plaster crumbles around it I'm not sure those gripit would work either.
Limited company also means they can dissolve the company and you are left with nothing.
