Boom's TT attempt was ace. Doomed but wonderful. And an emphatic win over Greipel putting Cav in the green. Fantastic!

Love the way a stage yields so many heroes. Injured riders straggling home, mid team members forming a lead out in the absence of people who have been dropped by the pace, people like Boom not giving up on the break even as his pals get swallowed up. Lovely stuff.

It's so much fun watching great breakaways. Boom put in such a great effort.

I have a funny feeling the organisers encourage breakaways to make it more exciting for the viewers.

I don't think so. I thought the idea behind Sky was GC contention from the beginning. It would be a pretty big change in tactics to try and do what HTC are for Cav.

What's the point in Sky signing Cavendish if they are not going to give him the support he needs?
