You see, traditionally, forum etiquette would frown upon this ^^^^ sort of off-topic private conversation in someone elses thread. The irony of this thread being about whether or not it is going to the dogs is not lost on me. Yeah, it's just traditional etiquette, and its all a lot more informal here, but it came about for good reasons. LFGSS really does feel like the private playground of about 20-30 members. Can you not keep general chat to general chat threads?
Bah, fuck it. Maybe my suggestions would just turn this place into BikeRadar, and there is a good reason I never read that.
Should I paint my bike green or some sort of buscuit? If biscuit, which is your favourite type?

What is it that you want? Seriously, what? You have many issues you need to deal with, deal with those before looking at others.

The problem is if people stop posting because they share your view we have, by definition, no way of knowing. You are right there is a small group of hard-core posters and part of the 'real life' stuff spills over on to threads. But, as you, say, the price you pay for stopping that might well be to turn LFGSS in to Bike Radar. I suspect there is quite an even split among lurkers between those who actually hang around because of the banter and the off topic stuff and those who find it annoying. But until they speak up we will never know.

Um, lynx my dear fellow, Pisti does have a point. I remember a few posts of yours that alluded to the fact that the closest Lfgss drinks to you was 10 miles away. If thats far, then Purley is further (you practically have to speak French, its so fucking far away), so how on earth would you cycle to Brighton and back. I'm not sure I could do it, and without knowing you (...............), I'd wager than my cycling is possibly better and more frequent than yours.
It may not be politely put, but it seems a fairly accurate assessment to me.
Now, now G, we must be nice to him. Jesus said so.

Now this is amusing, where is this assumption based? Is it another van assumption?
By the way it was 20 miles round trip for a drink. Dread to think what is to go to easts but think west was the furthest drinks I've been to. Oh and done the grandslam too.
So your accuracy/judgement is very very wrong. Can I have a list of how you based your assumptions?

Lynx, it's when you reply to things in this manner that you do the most harm to your reputation.
I know you believe that you are defending yourself, and obviously to a degree you are, however it is counterproductive.
If your reply was "hah yeah, good one" and then to move onto something else (preferably funny) then things like the van and so forth would fade somewhat.
