At the weekend I spent time with a couple of polo players who were complaining of polo-tics getting in the way of the fun there right now.

  • no polo no talk

  • Arguemtns over setting up the league and the BFF tournament. These are arguments about rules and dates and shit like that. It mos def is getting in the way of the fun, and everyone is fatigued by it. However, it is not a permanent thing, and it is not a personal thing.

Thankfully it is all about to pass and we can get back to just playing polo.

  • ^ I think that's what I was getting at. It's not the trash talking before and after matches, which is funny.
But most of the polo forum no longer frequent the rest of LFGSS, except to complain that it's not what it once was. Cause and effect?

  • For the record, Will is very much a part of the polo community. Without he (and Slamm), there would be far less photographic documentation of our exploits over the last three years.

He might be a "twerp" but he's our god damn twerp.

  • The Track forum also seems to be free of bitching and off topic conversations.

    We're even nice to Lethal!

  • But now that I know how you feel: if I ever see you at the Orwell again, BQ, you're dead. That's a polo bar. We have mallets. Watch out.

Run by an Eastie. Just saying...

  • Well, nice-ish.

  • I am bike polo's twerp.

Finally a t-shirt I can wear with pride.

  • Run by an Eastie. Just saying...

He's not there every night. And he doesn't run it. You'd better watch out. I'm bringing my mallet to the art show tonight.

    ;)

  • You're shit.
Why did i know you were going to post something... Youre predictable.

I was also going to say that im happy if those that dont like me have me on ignore... Except you.

  • He's not there every night. And he doesn't run it. You'd better watch out. I'm bringing my mallet to the art show tonight.

    ;)

I'll have garlic. Canadians hate that shit right?
    Or was it vampires?

  • Nice to read what wiganwill said, despite DJs point, I take that pretty seriously. I would lurk on their forum more but I'd rather just watch a game of polo, it's pretty breathtaking stuff sometimes.

'Twerp' is lovely. Is it a name people not from Antwerp call people who are from Antwerp?

  • I am bike polo's twerp.

Finally a t-shirt I can wear with pride.

That's like saying "I am the village idiot in a very small village where everyone is related".

  • For the record, the no polo no talk thing has a certain rationality. I.e., times when people post stuff about kit and gear that should be used in polo, or imagined rules, or imagined techniques, or try to sell their bike (or whatever) because it would be "perfect for polo" without having ever played a game.

But, seriously, how difficult can it be? :]

  • I suspect you'd be awesome at it, Mark. Better than Joe, at least.

  • "I am the village idiot in a very small village where everyone is related".

Well you do live in Islington, Clive.

  • Mark, sometimes no benchmark is better than one at all.

  • In would go further, Skully. WW is bullying you. Oh yes.

    (Muhahahahhahaha)

Please don't paint the abuser out to be the victim.

  • I've just picked up an exquistic Chas Roberts to borrow for the missus to go to Paris and back soon.

That person put an awful lot of trust in me to look after it for the duration, and it made me realise something, sure there's some bitching and slapping going around, sure there's people talking behind other's back, but then, what's a family without those?

I love this forum for one reason, the amount of trust we put in each other (once you get past the Bailey being careful not to get in the wrong side of everyone), and I don't think there's other forum who are as helpful to each other than this, putting their needs behind out of genuine concern for other.

Keep the forum as it is, probably lower the amount of bitch slapping, it's nice to know that there's people on here that I can actually trust.

  • i agree there are a few idiots on here who make the forum a less pleasant place for everyone. although i think things have improved of late (or maybe i am just used to it)

I won't take this comment personally, Joe...

  • The Track forum also seems to be free of bitching and off topic conversations.

[vader]That's because I am not as forgiving as Velocio.[/vader]

Actually, I haven't deleted any OT posts for ages, people seem to be self moderating that now.

  • Probably.

In fact, I think the key to self-moderation is to hit people hard.

    I'm far too forgiving.

But as I'm becoming increasingly intolerant of the "It wasn't me", "He started it" and "It just a joke, can no-one take a joke" I'm also going to let go of my tendancy to be forgiving.

I really think it's smarter of me to just ban people for good and for everyone else to see that and act accordingly.

So there's the fair warning to everyone. Attack a newbie without what the vast majority would consider to be fair cause, and I'm going to kick you hard. If you've already been kicked in the past, then I'm going to ban permanently.

And within that simple statement, perhaps people will try and help newbies rather than tear them new asssholes.

  • That's a good idea.

(except for three weeks per year when it's open season on noddys)

  • I'm personally finding the forum a much nicer place to spend time... However, maybe that's because I'll generally hang around in polo or classifieds and most other stuff is on ignore... I'm also getting more work done, I'm happier and can now play the piano to concert standard...

All this in just a couple of months...
