How To Lock Your Bike

• Nah, i don't mean when i go to work, different occasions when i'm more likely to leave the bike for a bit

• My method, can just get the Fahg around seatpost and wheel, another mm on the wheel and you wouldn't be able to.

So frustrating when you get a thicker stand to lock around and can't get seatpost and wheel. I really need to get another lock that can do that, as I just end up locking Fahg around the frame and stand.

Build a rat

• Already got one.

• Outside Westfield Stratford just now.

From the HHSB thread. :)

• Spotted this small-but-well-locked bike on my travels.

Things I like about this -

[] Two good locks of different types (pretty substantial chain and a GRP Superdeals u-lock) covering the frame and both wheels. Good work.
[
]That's not a wimpy thin-tubed cycle stand, it's a hefty barrier designed to keep cars inside marked car park parking bays.
[*]Good positioning, nearby are other bikes much less well locked.

Things I would improve -

[] The GRPS lock has a big shackle and is difficult to fill. The owner could maybe put a crank inside the shackle or rearrange it so more of the frame is inside the lock.
[
] Second u-lock isn't up to much, think it might be for the psychological effect of "fortress bike" festooned with locks.
[*]Could do with a chain or cable securing the saddle to the frame.

I'd steal her bike lights ;) that will buy me a tin of tennants super.

• That's overkill I reckon. The lightweight D is surplus to requirements.

• i'd have the rack sack n what's in it

Put the D-lock around the frame as well, surely? I mean, why wouldn't you?

Taiwan is part of the Republic of China. It is also most likely where the create was made too. Pretty much all bikes are made there, from BSO's to Colnago's.

It's not. It* is* the Republic of China. Not to be confused with the PRC.

Monsieur K.... what???

• I'd just try a joke in english, sorry...

• Technically the Evo should have been the other way round so as not to expose the barrel to easy picking, but I was only away for 15 min :-)

• Looking good, including the bike

• The biggest deterrent is clearly the threatening sticker on the DT

• Biggest deterrent is that its a fuji track!

(only kidding solid bike)

• I've had to start carrying a secondary lock with me for my front wheel when locking up in Bournemouth because some nobs been nicking wheels, I've always felt my m-18 through the frame and rear wheel was enough. Most people seem to just use shitty cable locks. The second lock is some crap £15 pound d-lock from halfords, but my theory is if my front wheel's the only one that's locked up, someone else's will get nicked.

• Its not really worth the weight penalty of carrying a heavy cheap d lock just for the front wheel. Either get one thats decent enough to provide extra protection for your frame or just use a little cable.

• It's incredibly light because it's shit, seeing as I'm already carrying around the m-18 which weighs nearly 3kg, the extra few hundred grams barely registers, ha ha, plus I already had this lock so didn't want to have to buy a cable as well.
