  • @Will, I find it pretty incredible that it would actually reduce the chances of employment but I suppose it shows how little I know about the business.

To be precise, phoning a controller or manager would do you no good; they would probably just think, who is this muppet? Asking couriers themselves you might get a better response; especially if you find one as nice as I was a couple of years ago :)

  • I thought it would be a sensible idea to do a little research first, i ride my bike everyday as it is, so i know i can do that. I just wanted to get a feel for the pace, so if/when i do get a job its not a huge shock.

Not sure why asking this kind of question would limit my chances of getting a job? what kind of industry looks badly on people who did a lil research prior to applying for a job? at least when i apply i know i not wasting my time getting into something i cant do and wasting peoples time.
Its not a career i am after, I looking for a fun way to make some money while I finish my studies at The Atelier here in London.

  • Become a rent boy, it pays better than courier wages and is probably more fun.

  • If you rang round who? If you ring up a courier company with that request you will be lucky if all you hear is laughter. It is not a good idea. But then, it's your area of expertise, not mine.

They sound like nice guys, have you got a number?

    Hey mate,
Maybe this will give some idea of what it can be like:http://forums.gumtree.com/topic231188.html

  • I don;t know why people think this is a daft idea, last year I thought about being a courier and a company sent me round with a courier on a slow day. He showed me the most common pick-up and delivery areas for the company, shortcuts, best places for cheap tea, answered all my questions.. it was better than giving me a radio and saying 'off you go..'

as it turns out, I didn't like it, but you might. Call SCS couriers near Smithfield market, that's who set it up for me
