A light pair of wheels will help but I'd spend my money on a coach or training program before I pissed it away on a set of wheels that will be fucked by the time you get back to Zoncolan.

I've got to have 30 kg on Em, a light pair of wheels is not going to bring that back?
- Let normal air out of tires.
- Replace with lightweight hydrogen.
- ???
- Profit

I didn't ask for sensible general advice now did I?
Wheels man, it's all about the wheels.
(I have actually started training btw)

My advice is always sensible, except the 70% of the time it is completely ridiculous.
Anyway, I've given you both options. Training is for chumps. -

This year my training for Zoncolan was to cycle round Richmond park 8 times.
2011's climb will see a little more preparation.
And some crabon wheels, hopefully.

Ta da!! I'll have a set myself while you're at it...

If I was going to spend that much on wheels.. I'd be getting the custom ones.

Pukes on everything in sight...
Plain is a win, eagles are too hipster for me...
-
• #35
They are "custom". You can have anything on them. These are what we like to call 'examples'.
And eagle = hipster?? Err.. I'm not TOO familiar with this sub-species but when did that happen?

Needs wolves IMO

Pie.

This sort of guff, hipsters seem to be going mad for them lately... Might go well with a purple flame Trek Project 1...
A pie rim would actually be pretty awesome but if I were spending that much money on wheels I wouldn't want them to look shit... The Lightweight logos on their own are a bit much I think...

Pie.
Apple pie Lightweights. Win!
I reckon Ullrich has a set already...
-

I've always liked the Obermayers with the white inner..
But I don't like the "Lightweight" text.
Maybe I can get them to change it to "Fatcunt"?

Get a pair of discs, apple pie on the front wheel, empty pie dish on the back wheel... Fat git sweating over his £8,000 bike in the middle... Bahahahahahaha cries and smashes the weighing scales

If I had them I'd remove all but one logo on each side of each wheel, the four logos looks shit...

I think AndyP pointed out recently that if you puncture on carbon clinchers you are likely to damage the rim unless you are able to stop straight away?

dt swiss RRC 1250's are nice

Yeah, coz they is lacking in aluminium and with tubs you can roll on a bit innit. Woo.
-
• #48
I'm a recent tub convert, reckon they'll even be making it onto the next fixed wheelset... Campagnolo Pista and all that jazz!
-
• #49
From our discussions in Italy I think I'd prefer to keep an alloy braking surface.
Opinions on these?
-
• #50
Zipp 303 clincher are better than those
What are your current wheels?
Also you must decide, tubular or clincher, carbon or aluminium braking surface.
