Technically "Yes" is winning as Rik's vote isn't being counted.

• #28
Just been thinking about this poll. It should be clear, that if Yes wins, it only applies under the assumption that whoever is throwing the EHBPC 2011 will be allocating spots by city. If they decide to allocate by country, we will need to decide this on a nationwide basis.

• #29
Please note that this vote is based on the assumption that the Euro spots will be allocated by city. If this is not the case then this vote will become null and void.
Ahem. -

it's just giving the winner or top two or something (yet to be voted on) a place. There will be more places available to London.
Thats exactly what I based my yes on. Remember when BAD won the league and still almost missed out on a place? Assuming London is given several places as a city, I think its reasonable to offer 1/2/x of those places to the league winners/2nd/x placed team.I dont in any way think the league should be the only way to qualify for the euros.
Tough one.
+1000. Its why I think we should do both..

this is a well tense one.
i have kept my mouth shut on most of these threads as i don't the time to keep updated, but i think it would be awesome if one place was set aside for the winners.

I missed the post about this result only being the case if it is decided by city (UK champs should decide the whole country IMO).
Could my vote please be changed from No to Yes
-
• #33
If yes and there will be 1 (or 2 or more) places, should it be on the condition that it is the same 3 players in the team. If the winning team/s wants to make a team change they should have to qualify in the same way everyone else would have to. What does everyone else think - does this need to be in the vote?
-

Admin's can't change the votes. When it closes, please remind us to count your vote differently

I'd say that can be part of the next round of votes if this is passed. At the moment it's just about whether we do it or not.
I do agree though, the only exception might be if someone intends to field the same team, but a member is injured late on, then they shouldn't be punished for that.

i think it should be the same three and if there is any feeling otherwise it should be clarified with a vote.

Roxy - how is this not before the league is decided?
Surely as the league hasn't started this is the exact time to poll on it?
just to clarify, I meant before registration. (and I don't think there will be any repercussions this year, but in the future it might decide whether people want to play in the league or not and with whom, that's all.)

Also, while overall Emilie I think you've done a great job with the polls (it must have been tough!), I do want to query one issue that may occur with both this vote and the "new format vs. old format" vote. Just a brainstorm but try to see it through.
As an example in this question let's say I think it could be nice to have the first couple of places in the league receive a qualifying spot. However I hesitate to vote yes because I definitely don't want all the places to go to the league. So strategically i think, just to be safe I'll vote no and keep the 2 events separate.
Same as the format question, as it looks like 'new format' will get chosen, I still think the choice for 18 teams as round robin should be on the next round as an option as, while I'd like a new specific format, I definitely would rather play all 17 teams rather than some of the new format choices.
In hindsight (which is of course 20/20), I think these 2 questions should have had all the choices up front in one question. I don't think it was necessary to break them into 2 parts and the breaking could be detrimental as people then want to vote strategically rather than just for the 1 choice they actually want.
There may be some loophole I'm not seeing here or maybe none of this matters, but as these 2 questions look to be a bit contentious it'd be good to be able to be 100% sure about the voting process. That said maybe we have to toss it u to doing the best we can even if it's not perfect.

+1
It maybe that the majority want a new format, yet when looking at each of the formats as options the round robin os favoured by most.

This.
Round robin could probably win on its own because the majority, who are actually in favour of a new format, split their vote. This seemed to be a much fairer way to do it.
The other option would have been multiple votes, first to 50 (run offs).

• #41
perhaps we should have a vote on how we vote?
-
• #42
I think you're being sarcastic, but: There should be a vote on everything and anything any player asks for there to be a vote on. That is the nature of the league - we all have a say and that say can be as little as asking a question and seeing what everyone else thinks about it (i.e., a poll).

start another poll then.

London polo will never stop to amaze me, no one does usully anything, but when some one does it, the rest just bitch/moan/complain.
-
• #45
What are you referring to Rik? I don't think I was bitching and moaning at all. I don't really think anyone was on this thread? Maybe Chukker, but he was just confused.

Rik, are you complaining? ;-)
I think you'll find all my posts here have been clarifying and highlighting things that could become a future issue if not raised now. All positive points in trying to get the best out the league - Same reason as why other people are posting - they are the ones that care. This shouldn't be confused with 'moaning'!

Sorry to disagree Hops but there have been a number of people who have been nothing but negative whilst I've been putting my own time into sorting this out.
I concur with Rik's statement.

Gabes had been asking for someone to step up and do it for 3 weeks+ by the time I got involved. Something that I only did as I want to play some decent polo.
Additionally, for all of those who couldn't be bothered to step up because of the time this takes, I'd like to point out that I've packed, moved house and unpacked all whilst organising this.

Rik's vote should not be counted, he is no longer a london player (sorry rik)
I missed the post about this result only being the case if it is decided by city (UK champs should decide the whole country IMO).

The winner with 23 votes is option A; Yes

you're so much better than Ray
50/50, this one's exciting.
