done now
in filled gaps, had 500g of seed left, another 2 weeks and the new stuff should start sprouting giving the full lush look
a sprinkling of some poultry manure pellets in a few weeks will give it a nice boost and get it looking nice and green -

Planning to plant out some seedlings today. I don't think a frost is on the cards now, but I guess it's possible. Ghetto cloches?

Make sure you harden off the seedlings if not done so already. Cloches will help but expose them to a few hours of outside temperatures each day - a good guide:

have a look at the mini greenhouse in my lawn photo above
at your local wilkinsons they are £15 - 19
3 levels so you can get a good number of pots in there
gets pretty hot in the direct sunshine whatever the ambient temp
will chill at night though -

Cheers. Have been hardening off some seedlings on the balcony so will start with those.

I've got a heuchera that's klling it. Thinking about trying to divide it, or at least get some cuttings. The stem/stock is pretty fucking massive though so I don't quite understand how I am supposed to divide it? And is this a good time to do it? It's flowering right now and looks lovely.

I put out tomato seedlings, courgettes and potatoes yesterday so of course there's now a widespread ground frost forecast for tonight.
Anything I can do to save them?

Horticultural fleece, hay, old blanket, cloches, pop-bottles with the bottoms cut off...
-
• #313
horticultural fleece or a cloche, got any old plastic packaging? like a trifle would come in.

stuff carrier bags with your shredding waste this makes a good insualtor and you might have it aroubnd the house
put it down while the sun is up so some heat can be contained / absorbedalternatively sleep in the garden next to them
body warmth and all that -

Hmm. Thanks chaps. Will see what I can rig up. The toms are too big for cloches though, already a good 18" tall and tied to the trellis. Will try the old blanket/plastic thing...
The spuds should be fine as they haven't come through yet and the courgettes in pots can come in for the night.

Yep, fucking bastards have sex then take a huge shit and the young live in the shit then burst open and eat the lily.
spindrift - 7
Lily beetles - 0
coming along nicely
one fuck up though
a day after i seeded i put the sprinkler on to apply a bit of water ..... went to the kitchen started cooking and forgot about watering
when i remember the lawn was like a swimming pool seeds floating around everywhere
so my well executed distribution of said seed was messed up and hence the slight patchy nature
will infill with more grass seeds after the first cut to fill in the barest patches
