I'd appreciate if anybody had Vittoria Pitstop on them, as I'm running 30 years old tubs.
My LBS doesn't stock it and it's too late to order online. I used the last drop on Tuesday.
Perhaps someone is near a big bike shop like Evans or Cycle Surgery and could buy a tin for me, please?

Good point.
I have no tub tyre tools! -
• #104
If not, I'll go on the Grubb converted into a heavy duty rig with 37mm Randonneurs, coaster hub and moustache bars, but it's so freeking slow right now...
I'll probably end up on the rear as well. -
• #105
The good thing is, I can tow a trailer with a crate of lager :-)

Will chip in some beer money for you if you're chilling at the back sir.

I suggest we end up @ the Nags Head in Walthamstow Village....

Is there a eastender meeting point? Wools wanna ride out from the junction? -

It's going to rain, though. My waterproof has a hole on the back after my last stunt.
Will have to wear goretex instead. -
• #117
Rain?
Hmm..... -
• #118
I'm going to be riding from Bow if any Easties want to ride together.
Time to break out the waterproofs just in case I think. -

And I'll be heading across from Ladbroke Grove for west types if you want to ride out

This is about to be posted. Just need to check I ve got the L and R s in the right order.
The parts where I am going to need marshalls most of all will be the turns for High Beach, the turn for N Weald, and the turns for Matching Green.

**The Joy of Essex, Saturday October 16th **
Lots of you have signed up for what will be a lovely ride. The weather looks good and the trees are turning golden in the forest.Starting point, the Whipp's Cross roundabout, south side at the bus stop next to the TA Centre.
**We meet at 9.00 and leave @ 9.15. **If you are coming from Hackney , then the best way to get to Whipps X is to ride down the Lea Bridge Road from Clapton. The Whipps X roundabout at the very end of the Lea Bridge Road . Here turn right and go around the roundabout and you will see the bus stop on the S of the roundabout . Or you can use the pelican crossing opposite the TA Centre and walk around the corner to the meeting point. The post code is E10 6EA.
The Route.
These are the directions to Matching Green and back . Anyone who has ridden the Dunwich Dynamo will know large parts of it.Leave Whipps X Roundabout and then ride up to the Waterworks roundabout and cross over the N Circular. This is a busy roundabout, so if we are split up we will regroup on the other side.
Then follow the road to Woodford Green where we turn L @ the junction and then take the A104 though Woodford Green and onto Epping. After 2 miles we enter Epping Forest.
At the 1st roundabout in the forest (the Robin Hood) **turn LEFT **at the sign for High Beach and ride into the forest. At the first junction, after a small hill **turn RIGHT** and then ride on up to High Beach. Go past the pub at High Beach and head for the green tea hut. **This is the 1st meeting up point.**
After stopping for refreshments at the tea hut, we carry on past the hut but after 500m and at the 1st junction **turn Right ** and ride on through the forest to rejoin the A104. Before rejoining the A104 to Epping there is a junction and a road to cross.** Here turn RIGHT towards the roundabout which you can see as you turn. Turn L at roundabout, past the petrol station and take the road to Epping.**
Ride through Epping , as you leave the town you will go past a green on your left and up a small hill. **At the top of that hill there is junction and a set of traffic lights. Turn Right here for N Weald. Gothrough more forest, under the motorway and then enter N Weald Village. Go past the Golf course and on your Left is the War memorial. This is the 2nd meeting up point.**
Carry on through the village and out to the Talbot roundabout (A414) junction**. Go straight across here and you are in the Essex Lanes. **
Ride on and at** 1st junction turn Right – **follow the signs for **Moreton , carry on till **you see the 1st sign for Matching Green and then follow that road N to Matching Green. This is the 3rd meeting up point.
Lunch and the return journey.
At this stage (20 miles) we will ride to the pub @ Moreton from Matching Green (follow the signs). Or we may go to the Farm Shop @ Ashlyn’s which is 200m from the Talbot Roundabout (Turn L and head in the direction of Ongar) this is usually a busy road so be careful here.
After Moreton or the Farm shop, we retrace our steps and ride back the way we came through N Weald, Epping, the Forest and Woodford. I suggest we again ride back via High Beach, but you can carry on down the Epping Road ( A104 ) to Woodford instead as that’s quicker.
**Getting to the Nags Head – **
This is the final pub stop. At the Whipps X roundabout ride back onto the Lea Bridge Rd and take the 2nd turning on your Right into Shernhall Street, that’s opposite a car lot.Ride up Shernhall St for 500m and turn Right at Church Lane. At the top, opposite the Church, turn Left and there’s the pub. After that you are on your
Own….General Points
The Epping and Woodford parts of the route can be busy- so single file is often best.Look out for Horses in the forest.
If there’s a car coming from behind the group then call out to alert the riders in front know. “Oil up!” is the warning to use.
Be courteous to others and salute all cyclists.

can't we just shout "car"?
-
• #125
Not in my club you can't.
Oh, and if i am the sweeper bike can people refrain from bring archaic technology like 27" wheels, woods vavles and cottered nonsense unless they bring the spares/tools to sort it.
Fond memories of the lucozade bottle and gaffa tape tyre boot on Dantes bike a couple years back when his 300yr old tyres exploded horribly on the essex lanes....
