I live 25 mins (when fit) ride from Winnats and avoid it like the plague.
Horrible down, miserable up.

Clearly I went on a good day!

Yeah my initial thought was "ffs no" when reading that.

There is no good day. Coming down you tend to have day tripping idiots going up in the middle of the road, plus the sheep, plus people crossing the road from the car park for Blue John Cavern.
Going up speaks for itself. It’s a battle against gravity. But unlike most climbs round here, there is no view. Not even really when you get to the top. The great views of Winnats are all from the surrounding hills.
I suppose from a hill climb point of view, it’s got icon status and the atmosphere would be good thanks to the steep sides.
I’d rather stand out watching a race up Mam Nick any day.

Powerful bit of writing this and makes me even more certain I want to go to Nationals next year https://traumfahrrad.com/2020/10/27/the-national-hill-climb-2020-streatley/

I know it’s very vein but if anyone can find a photo of me at the nationals- (203) pink lcef hat, fixed, barely fitting in my Lfgss kit I would be really grateful.
