I didn't look at his.

sounds like a knee jerk reaction to me on his part

Going through a green light last night, I was almost taken out by a red light jumping knight of the road who shot towards me. He then, very kindly abused me in coarse and vulgar language for having the temerity to cross his path.
So it was you!

Could the same not be said about this whole thread though? I was merely joining in with the spirit of things. IMO wearing shorts in winter is more damaging to ones health than jumping a red light. Or have I misunderstood the point in this thread?
Wasn't really a serious shot from me Mike, but since we're running with it. Yes in theory this whole thread could be seen as such (see the big trolly rantathon of a few months ago). But it is almost certainly no skin off your nose if said knee exposers are risking their future suppleness. It is - however considerable skin off your nose (literally) should someone ride like a twunt and slam into you, edge you into a car or act in such a manner as to bring shit tons of hatred upon all who ride on two wheels simply by association.

Yes, I know, I wasn't being serious either.
I was trying to point out that calling out potentially dangerous cycling is one thing. But calling out any misdemeanour's which has no bearing on one's safety is another. I tend to stay away from this thread as I find it a bit sanctimonious. I shall retreat from whence I came. No hard feelings -

This morning on my way west along Southwark street towards the south side of blackfriars bridge I overtook a lady pootling along on her town bike. As I approach the junction, there is a big ass hgv in front queuing at the traffic lights which have just gone green. This is a 4 way intersection. I roll up behind the truck in the middle of the lane like any sane person would do. Then
Lady proceeds to pass me on the left into a half metre gap, as its pulling away. She wobbles around under what must be the rather unnerving experience of having the wheels of a 30 tonne lorry accelerating inches from her face with her only hope being that the left indicator which isn't blinking has indeed not been activated because the driver intends to drive straight.
Luckily the lorry didn't turn left, but seriously, WTF is wrong with people. I swear the world is just full of fucking morons. Is it not the most obvious fucking thing in the world that at a traffic light, a big ass motherfucking lorry might want to turn left? And that your presence there will a) go unnoticed and b) very likely be the end of you? It's not ignorance, its just plain ass stupid.
I didn't say anything to her as i past her up the road, maybe I should have, but I felt that my view probably would have been met with negativity.
Christ, that really did piss me off. And to think, she has no idea how dumb her move there was. Hopefully she wont make such a move again, especially when a vehicle does decide to turn left. But that's just wishful thinking
Sigh, perhaps I should go to the rant thread.

saw something similar the other morning when leaving my house. Large tipper lorry slowing to turn left off Coldharbour Lane onto Lilford Road. The very act of slowing down approaching this side road was enough for me to see it was turning left as it was approaching a side road with no other traffic in front. He was also indicating with an audible turning signal. Low and behold, some bellend on a ratty road bike, with head phones in (not the most important factor but usually points out dickheads to me and in this case it was correct) canes it up the left hand side of this lorry. Thank god it was a) already slowing, b) unladen and c) being driven by an attentive driver because the next thing I know he slams on the anchors and blasts his horn. I was enough for me to shout "fucking hell" from across the road but not enough to make the bellend pay any more attention than he was already. The lorry didn't have a company name or else I would have definitely contact the company to praise the awareness of the driver. I just hope he doesn't think we're all like that.

So bored of people on my commute overtaking when im slowing down for lights/crossings then pulling in 2 inches in front of my wheel
most of the time without looking so if i wasn't anticipating it and carried on accelerating I'd easily clip there wheel
FUCK OFF

If I stop behind a vehicle at a junction I always attempt to make it as difficult as possible for someone behind me to get past. It constantly amazes me how small a gap people will shove their way through so they can get to the front, wait for the green light and then wobble off at 5mph. It might not be a stupidly dangerous thing to do if it's not a left-indicating HGV, but it's still pointless, ignorant and selfish.

Exactly the same thing happens to me, if it obvious I cycle faster than you then don't bother overtaking just before the lights where we are both gonna stop :/

I was taken out by a red light jumping knight once, despite his lack of road awareness he was very gallant and we had a lovely evening.

this, even worse is when people are 4-6 cars back and they get on the pavement meander to the front on the pavement and the lights go green and they just bomb it down infront of a car
I always sort of hope they get their front wheel taken from them just to teach a lesson.
Jesus, i sound like a motorist.

I think there must be a part of our DNA shared with Penguins, as I've noticed that cyclists are trying to huddle together at the lights now.
I normally track stand (due to an infantile bet I made with myself) and recently there has been a big increase in the number of people who pull up behind me, see me roll forwards by 3.7cm and so shuffle up into that suddenly free space, just to have me roll back into them.

The trick is to do a real ropey trackstand for the first five seconds so everyone stays away and then tighten it to a perfect trackstand.

This issue - more than any other on this thread - is actually worth calling out IMO. I always do it. To me it's not a matter of etiquette, it's literally a matter of life and death. Fucking around on the inside of a lorry is serious business. Happy to be seen as a jerk if makes them do a double-think next time.

I've been running quite a few errands around different parts of town recently, and I've decided no, it's not time to start calling out bad cyclists, it's time to focus on sociopathic lorry and van drivers. Monumental levels of danger being created by the actions of some of these pricks.
Nothing new here. Sorry.

Me: Shouting at someone who's obviously on here in Burgess Park last Friday for not having any lights.
Sorry mate, probably shouldn't have shouted at you to get some but tbh, if you've 'forgotten your lights' then you shouldn't be riding after dark. No excuse. -

Some moron possibly courier/ex-courier on holloway road last night, older guy, trampy looking on an old horizontal TT mountain bike, messenger bag, overtook him then pulled in ahead of him, had to slow down for a traffic light, so which he overtook me stupidly close and spat 'if ya gna ride, ride like a man ya cunt' and bombed it through the red and was inches away from getting t-boned by a car at the junction who beeped for about 30 seconds as he smugly rode away
I was wearing three quarter length shorts and long socks and so my knees were covered.
