I'd also guess the lower pressures synonymous with winter weather would exacerbate any inflammation of tissues / repetitive strain.

OK, sure. If you warmed up though, then you would be OK - or at least that is the case if you do warm up before a game of football. But maybe it's different on a bike as the knees are in a stream of fast moving cold air and anyway, who warms up?

Is there a market for knee warmers?

Idiot on mountain bike with the seatpost bottomed out, riding no handed straight through a junction where it was his give way, had to swerve out the way or i'd have t-boned him
Shouted after him and he just looked round and spat into the air.
lovely.Wish i'd just hit him

Exactly - constant wind chill, plus potentially insane number of repetitions of the same movement.

You mean in the way that Smithfield's specialises in meat or Billingsgate for fish?

I bet he was riding with the pedals in the middle of the soles of his white trainers, toes splayed out. I don't know what it is, but for the grey sweat pants and top wearing crowd, it is just uncool to have your seat at the right height or pedal with the balls of your feet.

I mean exactly that. Where is it?

A few riders out there in short shorts this morning. Now that is bad cycling. I was minded to call out 'Do you not need your knees after you reach 40 then?'
This is definitely one for the 'Is It Time To Mind Our Own Business?' thread.

Wembley market on a sunday would be a good place to look.

Kneedham Market, obviously.

Could the same not be said about this whole thread though? I was merely joining in with the spirit of things. IMO wearing shorts in winter is more damaging to ones health than jumping a red light. Or have I misunderstood the point in this thread?

Mmmm.... risk of knee damage vs risk of being hit by a car... Yeah I see what you mean.

Probably more to do with how likely you are to be hit jumping a red and hire likely your knees are to get damaged with then out in the cold. Although doing both once would both have quite lie probability of happening i reckon.

Going through a green light last night, I was almost taken out by a red light jumping knight of the road who shot towards me. He then, very kindly abused me in coarse and vulgar language for having the temerity to cross his path.

How were his knees Clive?
Cold joints definitely have less elasticity in the supporting structures, so more risk of injury. Osteo-arthritic conditions or tendencies are aggravated. I tihnk there's also a form of cold-induced inflammation too, but can't remember exactly. Less circulation to already blood-poor areas as well.
