  • But sweet pea, EVERYTHING you write says you won't be there.

And all seven of us know it.

I do like how you have nothing to add to the discussion that was taking place. Well done you.

When I do decide to turn up I will let you know. It won't be for a few weeks at least because of work commitments. So you will be hearing from me in due course. In the mean time you can check with chatters to my reliability and punctuality.

NOW, can we stop this nonsense as this thread was heading in a more constructive direction until this childish debacle.

  • Rofl, given up?

  • Rofl, given up?

Did you manage to come up with any suggestions to how better educate all these bad cyclists on our roads?

  • Interpretive dance

  • Follow them home, seduce and mate with them, bring up their children to cycle in a responsable manner. It might be too late for them, but their genetic material may have a chance.

Perhaps mime would be a new and inventive medium for communicating cycling disagreements.

  • I believe there are choice mimes already in widespread use.

  • I am not sure 'bad cyclists', who I presume don't signal anyway, are going to be up for this miming m'larky.

    The "Nescafe shuffle"..?

  • do they get 'trapped' in yellow box junctions?

  • The little fuckers are almost invisible on a zebra crossing.

  • It really is, you might not like that, you seem like the caring type but some people don't want your opinion or concern. That's life. You're free to pull people up when you think you see them doing something wrong, that's your choice, your right, but I am not convinced it's the solution. I think this forum is big enough and more than capable of coming up with a better approach.

bcr, I'm all for having an adult discussion about this issue of calling out versus keeping quite but it has become tedious been to watch you troll this thread, contradict yourself, make sweeping generalisations, personal jibes, and repeatedly state that 'there must be a better way' without actually suggesting one. I don't want to throw fuel on the bigbonfire but I do just want to respond to your comments to me above.

I'm quite sure that not everyone wants to hear my opinion, just as they don't want to hear yours, neither here nor on the road. The fact is, I rarely do advise anyone.

My point though, is that you seem to be under the illusion (or delusion) that one person's actions on the road have no impact on another - each to their own.

Or at least, as long as they don't affect you directly, it doesn't matter and it's not your business to say anything - "their life to live" as you say.

If all of us, as members of a community, decided it was acceptable to give someone "their right to live", so sit back and watch them endanger themselves and others (and that includes the devastating psychological consequences experienced by any driver who through no fault of their own hits a cyclist) then that's not a community I would want to be part of.
I sure as hell wouldn't want to cycle if everyone thought this way!

Tenners' point about striving to "raise awareness within the cycling community of issues and dangers which do arise, and trying to prevent them from causing anyone harm" is spot on. Going a step further and raising awareness within other road user groups, particularly HGV's is even better. This isn't about being self-righteous or preachy.

  • MM all of this assumes that anyone trolling has it in them to want to consider the constructive responses of those with whom they share the thread. This guy does not want to do that. You're wasting your oxygen, but your oxygen is serving to fuel the fire none the less. Ignore. Ignore and all will be well.

I do like how you have nothing to add to the discussion that was taking place. All you do is suggest the forum may have a better idea than pointing out when someone does something foolish/bad/dangerous, why not contribute to the debate?

In the meantime as we know you have a habit of demanding meet ups but never showing up, perhaps you can confirm with Adam that my conduct in the real world is much the same as it is here.

  • This is not the real world? It's so boring and predictable I must be confusing the two.

    ok :)

In cyberspace, no one can hear you scream...

    Must spread blah de blah

  • I personally enjoyed missmouse's "big" prefix on "bigbonfire."

  • :) Well spotted. I expect it'll earn me a nerg.

  • I've done laps of Regents just the once. And so far I'm 1 for 1 of being crashed into the back of by some fucker that doesn't feel that red lights apply to them. Fuckbaggery of the highest order going round there.

I used to do quite a bit there in mornings and evenings. Never had any problems. Maybe you're too skinny and they can't see you..

    Bigthreadhijack?

  • :) Well spotted. I expect it'll earn me a nerg.

    You expect wrong.

  • Will be interesting to see, as I've always thought, that once you make it through your first winter, you go from being fairweather to committed cyclist.

If even half of the people on the roads now, make the transition, it'll hopefully mean that cycling in london as a viable and visible all year round form of transportation is genuinely gaining some traction..

The bike racks at work went from totally full (maybe 100 bikes) to about 6 bikes in the space of a week due to the lower temps and chance of rain. I'm properly tired of riding in winter but at least I'll get a spot and the showers will be free.

  • Nergs MissMouse just to prove bigchainring fallible
