it's usually better if you get 10 or more of your mates and stand in the road together
far more effective
it's possible to almost block the whole street that way -

I used to do this with some friends when I was a kid
we'd stand in the road and chant 'cars keep out, use your legs'
I had quite a strange childhood.

I like it when the mother is on the pavement, but the pram/pushchair/buggy is in the road.
Obviously 'mother' is used only in the biological sense.

Bring your pets too. Dogs - stand in the road!
Preferably with a long lead. -

Covent Garden is a hot spot for all of this. That and walking out into the road without looking.

And don't forget to drag your kids into the middle of the road, you need to set them a good example so that when they're 5 or 6 they can man up and stand in the road for themselves! Preferably about 20 feet away from a pedestrian crossing. That red man green man shit is waaaaaay fucked up innit. Plus it's bloody racist.

Usually pretty good a tip toeing around peds in Cov Garden etcetera when I'm a walkenger. Recently a guy has started at my office who seems to have an exponential gravitional pull activated when crossing paths. It's like his spacial awareness is hyper sensitive so he blindly flips out an arm or a foot when too close. Nearly got twatted the other day, it's so annoying, like you don't want to interact but have to be on guard for the inevitable limb flail/direction change. Must be a name for this?

I saw school children standing in the road yesterday - the teacher led one child out across the pedestrian crossing who was instructed to stand facing the (stopped) traffic arms out wide and another to do the same to the parallel cycle lane where I was. When the rest of the school procession had all crossed the road the 'monitors' gave a wave and a "thank you" and we moved on. The little kid stationed in front of me exaggerated the arms and legs bit - big grin - thumbs up.
This was near Noordwijk (Holland). -

Why don't we turn of the TV set,
Go out and do something less boring instead. -

Why don't we turn of the TV set,
Go out and do something less boring instead.True, but sadly some of the youngsters on here might not get the cultural reference.... not sure if as a result this should be tagged ageist?

I don't like this at all...
Everyone knows standing in the road leads to walking in the road....
Thin end of the wedge.

What kind of 'This Life' is that?
ftfy, cultural reference update for those not quite old enough to remember WDY above...
p.s. age is negotiable, dependent on the quality of the lighting...
