  • Well of course, I was being a bit more wallet friendly

  • I just don't think I could ever betray the Holdsworth, he's served me so well, and is essentially the perfect bike for me track ends/clearances aside. I think I'll just ride him to destruction then think about something else!

  • ...inadvertently got some kids into riding fixed gear. Whilst taking my most recent Bike Tag, some kids ran over and asked to ride my bike - I let them, warning them that if they broke their necks it wasn't my fault! What followed was a hilarious ten minutes, with some coping better than others...

...the escapades ended after the main lad in the blue hoody had to go home for tea (we've all been there!) but I have to say, aside from some of the less cool ones flirting with Fiona semi-aggressively/threatening to steal my bike, it was great to see young 'uns get so excited by riding.

  • ... decided to start yoga!

Pulled the trigger on buying the Ribble and have so far done 130 miles since saturday and fuck me I'm an achy painful mess.

  • How's the yoga going? Always been tempted to start myself

  • Haven't started yet - giving it a crack tonight although I may be too achy to be much use. I'll let you know...

  • Watched a guy snap his Thompson Elite seatpost in our vice at work earlier - helped him try to get the rest out of his frame, which got duly fucked with a hammer - he ended up riding home SS and saddleless. Was a sound dude though - had retro bladed carbon Time forks on a steel frame which was rad - and used to go out on Friday night rides with benjaminbunny and Mark (Pissed up Pista) etc.

  • Was it the LOOK forks on the leader trk frame? Love that bike

  • No, Time on a Campagno frame - some italian thing - looks sweet.

  • Climbed Mont Ventoux. Ouch.

  • Thread close- sparky wins.

  • Fair play Sparks, rep to you. Did you do it fixed?

  • Chapeau.

I am by lfgss law required to say pics or it didn't happen (but actually some pics would be great if you have any).

  • Not fixed!

Yesterday did Alpe d'Huez. Today rode Col de Croix de Fer, then Alpe d'Huez. Tomorrow is Alpe d'Huez and either a boozy lunch or Galibier. Photos soon.

  • ...rode my road bike for the first time in a year, I only went to the co-op and back, but it felt a lot more difficult than riding fixed. I figure the freewheel amounts to a loss of momentum in the drivetrain - riding fixed your legs are kind of 'pushed' over the dead-zone if you relax a little, whereas with a regular transmission you have to do all the work, so rather ironically, not being able to freewheel works out being less tiring. Anybody else felt this, or am I thinking too much into it?

  • I have the same thing after riding fixed ages and going out on my road bike. A bit like your legs slipping the top a bit? I get used to it after a couple miles though but I deinitely know what you mean.

  • Yeah kind of - it just feels like I'm getting less power down, and that when I do eventually get up to speed, I have to shift down another gear to not feel like I'm wasting any potential power spinning out, very odd.

  • Dunno, think so far riding fixed has helped me spin smoother on the road bike...

  • ^^ Have definitely foud this after switching to SS from fixed.

^ Does make you spin smoother I think but allows you to "cheat" as momentum gets you through the dead spots.

  • ...made some toe straps! But unfortunately I don't have any bmx pedals to put them on.. Getting that sorted soon though.

  • Woah, where they hard to make? been trying to find some locally but to no avail so far
