It seems like no-one has come up with a good reason not to use Nitrogen in bicycle tires - on the other hand I can't see that anyone has come up with a good reason TO use it. It's used in race cars & jets because water vapour condenses in the tanks of air compressors and is transferred to the tube/tire, and can then boil & cause a blow out. If you are going fast enough for this to be an issue for you, chapeau to you sir!

Well you learn a new thing every day. Thanks.

Nitrogen can't escape as easily as oxygen so the tyres (should) hold pressure for longer. That's how they try and sell it for use in car tyres anyway.

I think gas canister pumps are the opposite - the wee CO2 gas molecules are smaller and you find that once you've used one your tire won't stay hard for as long as when filled with air.

I just used it cos my wanking arm was tired out and not in the mood for tyre pumping.

Wanking is the mother of invention.

Fun ride to work today. Stopped at red at the lights on the junction of Edward Street & Magdalen Street, guy on a nice looking Dawes light tourer pulled up next to me in the bike box.
Could see he was sizing me up, and when the lights turned green he got away ahead of me. Little smug grin? Let him spin ahead of me a little bit then stretched my legs. Couldn't see him when I turned at the Tombland roundabout..
Not a proper scalp, too short a distance, but first little victory on the Leader. Fun bike, now that I'm getting used to the stiffness of the frame..

yeah, looks like a half-decent bike and i suppose the price isn't way off. But then again I've never heard of No Logo and I guess there's a reason they don't put logos on their bikes...

Today I managed to completely split one side of my left-foot SPD in half mid-skid. Anybody else run SPDs and have issues staying clipped in under extreme pressure i.e. when skidding/pratting about?
I did it coz i had a flattie at work, and they use that shit for servicing refrigeration systems! Some one saw me striluggling away with a hand pump and direcylted me in the right direction!
