Received a new chain, chain ring, bolts and brake cable. Not the most satisfying of changes but it will hopefully be a little quieter; my bike sounds like a lawn mower at present.

noticed a huge wheel - swallowing pothole right in the cycle lane on newmarket road, just before the bit where it merges with ipswich road... it caused me to swerve mightily and had there been a car in the lane to my right - bad things.
You've been warned. I'd like to tell councilly types, any idea how one goes about this? whats the point in a cycle lane that doesn't provide a safe environment to cycle in?

I have been working on this. Swapped it for a bag of brake levers and calipers! The stem amd seatpost were jammed so i got a load of Caustic Soda and dissolved them. Next up im going to slowly start sourcing parts to build up a vintage road bike.

Today I finally took apart the Dolan ready for some winter escapades. Now have also built a winter hack. Only problem is its running 52 x 17 gearing. Anybody got any old 140bcd cranks they dont want? Holla.
-
• #293
Sorry. Mean 130bcd.

Today I (well yesterday) i filled my tyres with oxygen free nitrogen. Thats the shit they stick in F1 cars and aeroplane wheels.
-
• #296
I use 78pc nitrogen in my tires as well, with 21pc oxygen and 1pc argon.

• #297
Why?

• #298
Me, or Mark? I use that ratio because it's what I have to hand.
-
• #299
Mark - sorry. I gathered your ratio was more a matter of convenience.

Today I...
Went for a city ride at 2 a.m without my repair kit...got a puncture...walked back to campus. Prize twat!!
...freed a stuck handlebar stem. I got a spanner on the crown of the forks and used the handlebars for leverage at the other end. It took about an hour, but the fuckers are out. The funny thing is they're both for scrap anyway, I might as well have cut it out but then the bike would have won.
