Just placed the deposit for a road frame with Ricky, didn't realise he had a thread. When I started speaking to him earlier in the month he quoted 11 months lead time, but he has very reasonably worked it down to 7-8. Sounds like a really good guy.
So. Frikkin. Excited.

enjoy it when it comes, and have fun speccing and buying parts in the meantime
a custom built frame is a wonderful wonderful thing

I know, I have spent the last 2 weeks solidly scouring the web for what to put on it, still not sure.
Do you speak from experience?
-
• #56
yep, a serotta ti fixed and a robin mather ti roadbike
both near perfect.
-
• #57
Oh a serotta, lovely. Mathers are also really lovely, you like your titanium, sounds expensive ;)
I'm going 853 Top tube Seat tube and Head tube, and 953 Stainless Down tube and both stays, I think I might go for brushed stays and brushed stainless lugs. Not that anyone cares, I just must share my excitement.
What group on the roadie?

Tom at Demon found his new painter via Ricky Feather - someone he found last year. The chap painted my Demon and he's done a really stunning job.
He also re-masks between paint layers so stainless (or contrasting) lugs, etc come up a treat.

Yeah I had hear it took I'm a while to sort through a bunch of not quite good enough good painters to find where he is at now. They are all wet painted and look the biz. And may I just say your Demon is an absolute beauty.

• #60
Thanks! I reckon a Feather would have been my second choice.
-
• #61
Had I gone down the track route a Demon would have been a more likely option for me. But after seeing Feather's Rapha road bike, it was a no brainer for me

@Peter Maxwell
Saw your bike in Nottingham Market Square this afternoon. Absolutely stunning in an understated way - very stealth with the black Velocitys and Ritchey bars, stem and seatpost, but with loads of 'presence'.
No camera or phone to take a picture, unfortunately - otherwise it would have ended up in pr0n (or even rat!).
Made my day! -

where is that venue ?
-
• #68
Broad Street, Hockley, Nottingham, every tuesday at 7:30, we normally pootle out about 8ish good couple of pubs and about 15-20 ish miles, i used to setup a thursday ride for those that want to go abit further afield, ie derby loughborough mansfield etc, but i'm waiting until summer as we didnt get the numbers so i just go with a couple of roadies and/or convince someone to come out fixed.
You near Nottingham Dicki?

I'll bet that he's the only person in the world that can build such beautiful frames and click inverts like this:
