Ah, I wondered how that was done.
The numerical ones "321 kill the tags, 322 kill the tags" I half-suspected someone having gone into the javascript console to do.
That was me and I removed all of them from the thread I posted them in.
And I didn't use java. I used excel because I'm like that. -

You're all big copy and pasters.

hear heardon't understand why he's been singled out
he's not perfect but then who is? he does a lot more good / offers more support than most people

tags are lame. get over it people
-
• #4862
David, in forum tradition, can you list the top taggers?
-
• #4863
missmouse, this is written in a slightly drunken state, but you have more reason than most to see the good in james, from my part, he's done more harm than good, and though he may contain his maliciousness in the depression thread, as that's one he contributes to, gains succour from, he's a heavy troll in many others.
-
• #4864
Precisely the opposite of my opinion. What you say may have truth to it, but where I disagree is that James' contributions to helping people through the depression thread are an invaluble asset to this forum, and his actions through the thread inspire others to reach out to each other when in need, to friends, and to strangers.
Be mindful that James has had alot on lately, but yeah I know, we all got issues. Just, this forum means alot to him and I don't believe his actions really warrant him losing that.

can we have tags back yet?
-
• #4866
weren't you on a plane yesterday? are you not somewhere where tags are less of a trifling matter?
-
• #4867
No that was Hinata, I just couldn't sleep. I still can't sleep.
Velocio should just make me a moderator. I would be much better than hippy.
-
• #4868
Yeah sorry about that, bit tired.
Want to sleep? Lie back, close your eyes, imagine rolling roads, blue skies, endless cornfields, a soft breeze and the gentle whirring of your tires on the pavé...
...always does it for me (:
-
• #4869
The problem is when I lie back I have to spend about 10 minutes swearing furiously because of my busted ribs and it's not conducive to imagining tranquil cycling scenes. I'm up now anyway, may as well do something productive.
-
• #4870
Sounds like 90mg of codeine and a valli would do the trick though.
-
• #4871
that would put me to sleep, but probably for the entire weekend. I'd quite like to be conscious for some of it.
I'll be fine, I do OK on not much sleep. Could do without the wisdom tooth pain on top of the ribs though.

I'm perfect, thank you very much - my Mother told me so.
Perfect he may not be, but DJ has in past shown definite signs of trolling within that thread. If you're not interested in football then don't read it - I have no interest in polo for example, so that's a part of the forum I just don't read or contribute to. Similarly, I have no business in the ladies forum - therefore I avoid it. I think that the manner in which the big boss handles situations is fine, but then I think that everyone here is adult enough to a certain extent to exercise some self-moderation. The other rule of thumb that I have is that I will never post anything that I'm not prepared to say to someone in person. Simple really...
As I understand it, anyone is free to put in an appearance wherever they choose to. Certain threads should be treated with infinitely more sensitivity than others, purely because of the nature of their content. Somebody's state of mind is not there for the entertainment of anyone else - I believe that was outlawed years ago. Similarly, there will ALWAYS be wind-up merchants wherever we are in life, but this is no excuse for tormenting people when they may be at what they think is their lowest point.

True about your perfection, of course. :) [can I have a free handbag now?]
DJ is the first to admit that he's behaved less than perfectly at times and this troubles him but he always puts his hands up, apologises and gives others another chance when they themselves discover they need some friendship and support. This is one of the most lovely things about him.
Don't get me wrong, I get really pissed off when I see him deliberately provoking or retorting and thus lowering himself to those who have offended him. Sometimes I wish he would just close his account for his own peace of mind, but then it's just not my nature to play fire with fire. I'd rather run the other way. The pros for him (like others) of gaining advice, giving advice and feeling part of a community (which isn't purely a cyber one) do for the most part outweigh the sometimes extreme cons. As someone who can think in very black and white terms, I too have a very love/hate relationship with this place.
Of course anyone should be able to post where they like but as you say it's the nature of their posts and their intentions. I have a sense of humour, I don't take myself so seriously that I need people to tread on eggshells around me on the forum or in 'real' life', plus I realise nowhere is really sacred on the internet - but the regular, tedious intrusion on a thread which we turn to for support by those clearly trying to sabotage themselves, becomes challenging and pisses me off, and that would be why I choose not to post on there any more.
I don't envy David's role. I've valued his previous interventions and I know there's more to this latest spat than the events of the last 24 hrs but PLEASE can everyone apologise now, or at least agree to disagree and move on? No one on here is a bad person.
Going back to bed now as I only got about 3 hrs sleep last night worrying about all of this silliness...wake me up when all is well in the land of fixie skidders again.
