  • Now..

If you have an item for sale anywhere other than here, like ebay, bikeradar, ctc, retrobike, etc. then you cannot post it here. If you have posted it on ebay, people are allowed to discover it and post it in the eBay/Craigslist finds thread but you must not do this yourself.

I'm sure VB can change it back if he doesn't like.

Ah, I missed all this fun. I'd suggest some further edits for clarity (edits in bold):

If you have an item for sale anywhere other than here, like ebay, bikeradar, ctc, retrobike, etc. then you cannot post it here. However, if you have posted it on one of those other sites, other people **who have discovered it are allowed to post it **in the eBay/Craigslist finds thread. You must not do this yourself.

  • Or, just don't list it here if its on ebay.

But most importantly, don't get andy.w when you get caught out.

    Fixed for better advice. :)

  • Thanks Oliver, it's so nice to have an Englishman correct my poor foreign grammar...

    :)

    No, really, thanks.

    Banned.

  • Finally caught up on the spam queue for linkbacks and approved about 600 hundred of those.

Approved about 5 threads from the thread spam queue too.

As always, if you post a thread and load the first post with tons of images and if you happen to have posted less than 100 times then there's a really good chance you're going to end up in the spam queue.

Not that I know that for a fact, I don't. The spam detection is done by Akismet http://akismet.com/ and I only run Akismet against those who have posted less than 100 times. It just appears to be a trend that Akismet is marking some threads as spam falsely when there are lots of images. It's a trend and not fact though as quite a few aren't marked as spam.

Anyhow... if you find your thread not appearing, ask yourself if it was loaded with images. If it was, there's a good chance it's in the spam queue and I will approve it within a day.

To avoid this... post fewer images in the first post (one or two) and put the rest in a reply to the first post. This means at least the thread will be visible immediately even if it takes me time to approve the reply which may still have gone into the spam queue.

  • I think the confusion is that the rule just states posting, but there is a difference between posting a link to ebay, and posting an ad here as well. It needs to be clarified that it refers to both.

  • Quick q if an item for sale has disappeared down the order can I advertise elsewhere without fear?

  • Close the thread on here.

  • Auspoetzert - selling on first post

You need to post the exact page from that thread here so we can like remove the like dodgy shit, like yeah, kapow like wow.

  • We had that on page 701 earlier today, I'll check pages 702, 703 and 704 just in case someone has quoted the pic that is causing the alert.

  • Deleted a spammer who managed to get a caught in the spam queue with loads of dating site spam.

  • Cleared the linkback spam queue too.

  • I've had to change a setting for those registering.

It was apparently possible that if someone registered an account with a username the same as someone else's but with just the addition of # or & then they could receive PMs intended for the original user.

As such, usernames can now only contain the letters A-Z (both upper and lower case), numbers and spaces. It's not possible to use any other character in your username... no dots, no quotes or apostrophes (sorry Irish people), no unicode.

  • All my prvelidges have gone and I can't pm! Apparently I'm in the nursery again, why?

    Help!

    What about _

  • I imagine it only applies to new users.

  • Deleted a spammer who managed to get a caught in the spam queue with loads of dating site spam.

You could simply have merged it all into MultiGrooves' thread.

Your donation had expired, and the default usergroup post-donation is the "Registered" one which is indeed the nursery. An hour later that was detected and you were promoted to where you should be. You should be fine now

  • I have an iPhone - its too fiddly with the full site

I have a HTC and agree

  • I wouldn't use anything but the full site with my Desire.
