  • It's definitely more stripped down than the chocolate donkey. :]

Only thing is, because of the colours and all the little bags, I can't stop looking at it and thinking "Shit...It looks like a Police bike". :]

I know what you mean, when I ride my hardtail I keep expecting tourists to stop me and ask directions. But I guess you'll be riding too fast for that?

  • why would you take a musette?

  • to put some food in and fold down to stuff in jersey when finished?

I might get a blue light and one of those kids bike sirens with the little microphone built in...that would be sweet!

Not the instrument type of musette then?

  • natch

  • Man, are you brothers going to the moon or something? Turn up and ride, that's all there is to it.

^this. seriously. it's just a bike ride. I've gone on two week holidays with less than some of you guys are carrying.

In our shop, we sell a german horn, but this horn needed to be pumped up.

mechanic decided to press the horn on a customer bike.

clue the entire shop jumped in alarmed at wondering what the fuck was that, even me whom tend not to notice such noise.

  • If you're worried about numb toes, take whatever footwear you wear from September to April. It's not a commute just because it rains...it's still a ride where you get to meet loads of other cyclists who also didn't let the weather stop them from going riding.
We ride bikes, in the uk...your chain and rims will eventually get wet and gritty...it's just another part of being a cyclist.
Don't see it as a chore, see it as a challenge. Challenge yourself to not let the rain stop you doing it. If the most you've ever done is 11O, there is your reason for still doing it...to ride 26O...potentially in the rain.

All I have left to say is this... The rain never stopped Barry doing it...and it never stopped him singing out of tune, or whistling, or keeping the spirits up of every single person he rode alongside who appeared to be struggling, either from rain, fatigue, or any other reason.

Rain isn't a reason to stay at home, It's a chance to see a rainbow!

    See you all on Saturday!

Thanks BRB, it's going to be epic, I needed an HTFU. Shit, I have mates who will be working their 14th 15 hour day on the trot, and when I explain why I'm not working "oh, um, I'm going for a bike ride..." actually sounds pretty nice.

We spend the majority of our lives working.
As a great philosopher once wrote..."Life moves pretty fast, If you don't stop to look around once in a while you might miss it". ;]

  • I have just done two contradictory but expensive things to my bike. Long haul trucker forks and Lowriders for trip to north highlands, plus £80 23c bontranger tyre set for saturday night...cant decide if I feel faster or slower. Definitely difrent.

  • I bought a brand new pair of GP 4OOO S's for Dunwich...went on one ten minute ride today and got a bloody puncture! VECTRAN MY ARSE!
