I reckon the Gilles B are a much better and stronger mudguard, they're about the same weight too (alu stay helped).

I'm hoping that being able to rotate the strut will allow me to easily fix them to the mounts above the disc brakes, on both frame and fork of the Straggler. I don't want to be bending struts and adding spacers in order to fit mudguards. It looks too much of a bodge.
The GB ones do look nice, but too shiny for me.

But shiny...!

Just picked up the frame for my next build. It's a Radon R1 trekking frame with a Jeff Jones truss fork.

^^ You do know the straggler is available in pink right?

I love to look of the truss fork. What is the benefit though?

It acts like a suspension fork.
-
• #7134
How?
-

It doesn't act like suspension anymore than a regular fork, I think its just a manner to get away with super skinny tubing on the fork which gives a novel aesthetic with the fat tyres. It probably offers something extra in the form of strength, like a triple clamp fork. When braking I imagine stress is more evenly distributed to upper headset race compared to regular forks. Just conjecture though...
It is reminiscent of a springer fork, which does offer suspension;

If they're shite, a pads upgrade may not make that much of a difference, I would try and set up your cantis again to make sure you get the most out of it.
Failing that, mini-v as other suggested, or the new Shimano CX cantis that's amazingly easy to set up.They're calibrated perfectly as far as many tutorials have indicated. I don't want to go for Mini-v's simply because they won't fit. I've already decided on 2.2" with wide guards, so that creates fitting problems I'm hazarding a guess. I'm guessing it's the 15+ year old pads that are the problem.
LX cantis from CRC?
LX Canti's from around 1994!!

To have the extra wheel done with a deep section crabon rim and full metal fenders is just...
...like the rest of the bike really... ;) -
• #7140
utterly ridiculous!
-
• #7141
The trailer wheel is normally the front wheel of one of my other bikes, it's got a dynamo in it which (on the other bike) powers the lights, when in the trailer it charges a cache battery which can then be used to power Garmin/phone/lights/etc when you get to where you are going.

Pimp your touring bike.

I don't even know where to start the "Yo Dawg" meme...

And I thought everyday was a parade when you're riding a recumbent...

You say that - I actually do need some sort of pennant to attach to the trailer so it doesn't get wiped out by a motorist who can't see it.
All suggestions for said pennant welcome.

Fucking awesome!
stabilisers on the trailer wheel to stop any leaning pull? -

Should I know what that is?
Are they worth the extra £ over Chromoplastics? Even the Gilles B fenders are cheaper...
They do look pretty slick though...
