It would be a pain to fill that with enough small things to keep it thin, if you know what I mean.

He made the bag to hold his 'Sindawg' bars.

Maybe he saw the "How to use luggage" video from a few pages back and made it to carry organic leeks, rhubarb and artisan sourdough ficelles?

Ok functional nerds... I want to make my pass hunter fit better, at the moment it's bodged with a plate, but getting in the fork crown hole would clear some extra space under the guards for big fat tyres for bikepacking. Any clever ideas as to how to attach a threaded bar to the back of the rack, or should I just find someone that can weld one in place. I think one should just run adjacent to the back of the rack right through the hole, so no need for a kink as with the current strut.

Shimano new cantilever brakes? They're very powerful for such minimal faffing.
-
• #6482
huh? The brake's shouldn't be a problem, if it goes straight to the mount hole, the strut will pass just over the cable. I just switched to Vs from canti's and no amount of chat about modulation and correct setup is going to get me to switch back!
The limiting factor in terms of tyre clearance is the rack strut, not the brakes

Ah gotcha, only just clock the mount not going through the fork crown.
Since it's steel, surely you can try bending the mount slightly to pass through the fork crown instead? May need careful precision and a vice.

Maybe, I can't see me making a clean job of that and clearing the brake cable too. I was thinking I some kind of T-bar type fixing to secure to the rear of the rack and a new threaded stay, but my poor mechanical knowledge can't think of anything suitable.
I'll talk to Argos about whether they could do it, going to get them to add some extra bottle bosses to the downtube anyway.

I second bending it. Must have been done before...

OT @ busseynova love your mambo for cats avatar, we have that framed up on a wall at home.

According to VO themselves;
Note: We've set the arm angle to fit the majority of bikes, but some frames with unusually large tire clearance may require bending the mounting arms down a little.

Bending it is then. I guess worst case is it snaps off and I have to replace it anyway

It's steel, you'll have to really bend it a lots to snap it off.

I'm thinking it'd fail at the weld before anything else, but hopefully I can clamp it so that the force isn't directed through that.

Do you have access to a vice?

Not right now, but I think my buddy might have one.

Readers wives.
New bars on gf's bike. She wanted something that put her a bit more upright. I went with the humpert 'country mas'. Cheap and cheerful with good reviews. Annoying that it's pulled the front brake cable pretty tight. I have a new cable but don't have any outer. She'll have to make do. -

She'll have to make do.
I see trouble on the horizon.

Hahaha I know she'll spot it straight away as well.

That would effectively add length to the cable outer and smooth out the tight bend.

Good idea! I have one of them as well.

I'd post this in porn if I didn't think I'd get flamed, it's a very odd choice of components but awesome all the same
Would love to try the seatpost, not sure on top tube bag, I would suspect it make it tricker mounting the bike.
