  • Just saying that people got by.

  • I'm after a cyclocross / touring bike with disc brakes. Other than the croix de fer, and the cheaper CDF, which looks a little lumpy, what would anyone recomend?

  • The Boardman thingies look pretty sleek...

  • Think it was mentioned in this thread a few weeks ago.

My mate did LEL on one and loved it. I think they're well specced for the price, although others disputed it. They're a pretty out-and-out tourer though.

  • I lke the idea of 9 speed, thin 10 speed chains wear out so quickly. The whole modern thin ten speed chain thing kind of pisses me off. I've seen old 7 speed drives last 20 years.

  • Marty be selling some bikes.

(should probably be in the cyclocross thread).

kinesis crosslight pro6 all day long .

  • Had a sudden flash of memory about a Daniel Salmon frame that I passed on buying once. So practical, with hidden mudguard eyelets, internal cable routing and a nice racy cutout in the ST.
After a bit of looking I've found some photos of another:

Those rear brake pads are on the wrong way round.

  • Good eyes!

  • Just rode a bike that wasn't fully loaded for the first time in almost a month. Comedy handling followed, it was like riding a bucking bronco at first - ha. And it. Was a Brompton, with a very light front load so it was very, very twitchy. #FunctionalProblems

Had this last year after using the cargo bike for a week. Took the road bike to the end of the driveway. Jumped on the pedals to make a gap in traffic, and very nearly overshot the entire road.

  • Yup, the more you ride it, the more it start to feel normal as your whole body apt to how the bike respond.

Had you been riding a little longer, you'd start to enjoy it more.

I find this happens when I've been riding my pomp for a few days and then jump on the vig. It always takes me a little while to get used to it.

  • I love my cargo bike.

You can basically forget youre travelling by bike. Because anything you want to bring or buy fits on it somewhere. The massive tyres and spinny gearing mean I can go anywhere on it.

Needs a New crankset though. The FSA metro internal gear one cant take the strain.

    Cargo bike + load + kid(s) = 100kg
Cargo bike tyres = 3" at 35 psi

    Road bike = 6.4kg
Road bike tyres = 23mm at 100 psi

  • Can we get pictures of the cargo bike?

  • and when will that be available and at what price?
My brother was looking at croix de fers for a touring rig, but kind of wants a comfy carbon fork due to a recent wrist injury.

  • I think £2200, there's a bright yellow equilibrium with carbon fork and 5800 disc as well, not reynolds either.

  • thats a 4k bike by Genesis pricing standards.

  • Can we get pictures of the cargo bike?

    Cheers JB.

Looks like this now. The child seat replaced With a second cushion, and the stem is flipped for teh Aeros. Want to buy proper long bike pannier bags, and a single speed crankset. Cant seem to find the grab strap for the rearmost passenger either. But both kids reach the bars without squashing each other so no hurry there.

  • GF's new bike. Picked it up on ebay for £40, chucked some slicks on it, got the gears dialled in and the wheels trued, gave it a clean, put a rack on it, put on some new grips and now it's as good as new. I've got some nice mini v's that I might put on as well.

  • Lovely; thats what this thread is all about : )
