Gah that's one of those "rat" builds that are actually prohibitively expensive.
-
• #6353
Rat frameset, new $$$ components.
-
• #6354
I bet the frameset wasn't cheap
-
• #6355
What a pointless, expensive mess.
-
• #6356
Huh? it's in functional, not rat.
No reason why you can't ride with 10 speed SRAM if you so desire to.

Front baskets on track/race frames are always anti. MTB seatpost and £££ saddle don't help.

I sense a mob forming again.

Nah ^^ they just don't get it.

What would the FBNPNA readers reccommend as a good all-purpose flat pedal? I can't decide if I like the look of the Grand Cru Sabot's:
Rounded pins seem like a good idea for around-town, easily replaced with something sharper if I want to throw them on the 29er. Ruled out the (seemingly popular in California where it's always dry) MKS Lambda, Hope pedals look nice but too pricey and I have a feeling Saint are loose bearings so they're out too.

Clips and straps have got to be the most functional.

Basically a perfect day to day go to bike!

De Rosa is lovely tho.

Yeah MKS GR9 plus clips and straps are good.
-
• #6366
That'd get my vote, or Sylvans.

Their benefits being largely negated when not worn super tight with very stiff shoes (which let's face isn't very practical) I'll beg to differ.

• #6368
I like the De Rosa.

Thinking about it I might have a pair of GR9s knocking around... Might as well dig them out again before buying anything new.

.
The thing is with hideous hybrids is every few years I forget how bad they are and try one – thinking they might be 'practical'.
They are all shit!

Plastic Nukeproof.

^^ really?
I find my girlfriends' one pretty good.
My one complaint is that they often see far to stiff. My old Giant was great, but often seemed to give a harsh ride. That said it did also have cheap tyres.
My main reason for getting rid of it though was it just seemed OTT for my needs. I realised that I'd be happier with something light and nippy. But then you look at things like Apollo's LHT and I can't help but think that is equally as OTT for London... but you can't move in that thread for all of the jizz dripping from every post.

That hybrid makes my balls itch.
That de rosa is just a very practical bike, yeah it has expencive parts and the frame isnt exactly cheep. But wouldnt you rather spend that and have a nice bike with character rather then buying a OTP hybrid?!

De Rosa is Marmite...
-
• #6375
I'd rather have a mtb with dropbars and road chainset than a roadbike with risers and mtb chainset.
Hybrids are the worst.
IMHO etc
Lucky I dont live in London then!
