Not sure where to put this but I'm thinking about buying a '93 Specialized Rockhopper frame to build up as a touring bike. It has been done before but I like to know if it's a good idea? Thanks a lot!

My FBNPNA project is in similar spirit, if a little backwards (shameless plug).

More I think about it, I might fixie flounce too and get an AWOL if I can get a test ride in.
The first one has landed in the UK according to their Tumblr.
Why the AWOL though? Originally I thought it was cool but the more I look at it, the less I 'get it'.

Aye I saw that, have till July to think about it
My girlfriends insisting one bike max, but thats obviously a ridiculous thing to say however I can only get one of my bikes down when I move so the other will have to wait.
I dont enjoy riding Bob more than a few miles anyway, and its not that practical for winter commuting anyway, ach, who knows??

We had a 2 bike rule, now I have 3 and she has 2...
Can you run the AWOL singlespeed/fixed? I just picked up a flipflop rear wheel for my Cross Check for October onwards as cleaning cassettes every week can piss right off.

More functional to carry your vegetables in a Carrotdice surely

I wasn't sure how to carry organic veg on my bike until some thoughtful soul made that video posted a few weeks ago.
The answer is "you should always carry organic veg on your FBNPNA without smiling"

And no Garmin. Use a rootsheet, perhaps.
I like the Jamie Swan posted earlier. Very clean and unshowy, looks comfortable.

Smiling.
Those FBNPNA posers should take a leaf out of Hibell's book. -

It's a touring bike though so I'm not sure if it qualifies as a FBNPNA.

It's the ultimate functional bike.
I think the one he's using in the desert is one of the non Argos frames he had

Any of you guys got a black brooks spare? Either b17 or swallow? Dark brown might do.... Want to try one on the Hetchins ... Preferably a bit worn but not knackered cheap is good.
B17 or Swallow only? I've got a dark brown ti Swift that I could be persuaded to part with. PM me.

It's the only bike I have that I don't like the look of but it's the most comfortable and gets the most use.

If nothing turns up have a look at the Spa cycles saddles TM. Cheap and supposed to be decent.
Thanks for the tip, asked a friend that works there and he says they're much the same as a b17 but thicker leather, which takes longer to break in. I'm after something pre worn so I can see how I like a brooks... Don't have the patience to wait 1000 miles to see. Think Scoble's got me covered with an b17.
In other functionalness, not fully bedded in but ebc red pads are already an improvement over the old, possibly contaminated avid pads....
Just ordered a new pannier too, 20L ortlieb which should be a little less vast.

Meh.. Touring with a support car?

• #6173
Woah.. Racing unsupported over 5,000km
I fixed that for you as you seem to not have a clue. ;-)

At the time, if you got a puncture, you're up shit creek without a paddle if you're not carrying a spare wrapped around your chest like a 'chute.

Why limit yourself?
