Any HiphopBeardo convergence hasn't reached the countryside yet. We are still using framepumps, barbags and triples, drinking tea and ale entirely oblivious to irony. So the just like 1940 but with Garmins. Tanwall tyres are considered a bit flash. Schwalbe is a mark of distinction.

I really need to order more, I've just passed the 8,000km margin and it's just about to start showing wear.
Extra Leger next time maybe? it doesn't have the lovely red rubber.

Yeah. I did'nt want to start fitting you to a bike.
I'm going to make this more difficult, and suggest a smaller wheel size. If you look at something like the Soma Saga. The small sizes have smaller wheels. So the bike can maintain a nice geometry. Not discs though.
Yeah I'm a 51 max in TT. I'm thinking maybe some swept back handle bars and forgoing the disc brakes.
Specialized AWOL is an awesome bike too, it sit inbetween a CX and a Salsa Fargo., their top tube look long but that's normal as it come with a shorter stem (60mm on the S).
The AWOL looks good but a 495 st is 575 TT. That's crazy.

Wicksie - Genesis' not an option? it fit your sizing well.

That's normal for an MTB style bicycle, the Whyte Cross for example also have crazy top tube length but fit perfect.
I'm generally 54cm TT, Whyte is 57cm TT but fit the same due to the geometry and stem length.
Much the same as the Soma San Marcos my girlfriend have, it have a 53cm top tube, but because of the extremely slack seat tube (71.5 degrees, normal is 73/74 degrees) the top tube is realistically 51cm.
Picture hopefully illustrated the slack seat tube well, Grant Petersen really know his stuff;

The Saga looks very nice in small sizes. A 50cm ETT would still a balanced look to it.
Its a touring frame. Which doesnt sound like what you want. But the geo is definitly worth noting.

RE; Ahearne
For a bespoke cycle maker they have a pretty clumsy approach to stems/headtube/headset setup.

Thanks guys, I'll look in to those. I have long legs so need a 52, but short torso so 50cm would be best, so go for 51 generally.
Liking the look of the Saga. No ST Geo though.
Cheers both! -

Just a nice road bike. Not Porn not Anti.

that "spooky" logo is ugly as sin
-
• #4640
Many people would see that statement as heresy. People love spooky to death for some reason, something to do with their history making mtb jump frames etc.. cult status, die hard fans - who would buy that extremely ordinary frame purely for the spooky logo.

Well they are building to order, so not 'ordinary' by definition.

what kind of stuff do people actually carry on those small nitto m12 and similar?
I can see them working as bag support, but if your not the bar bag type what kind of functionality do they really offer?I was thinking about one for an old gt mtb that I want to build up for the mrs.

bag support (as he is using it for), small crate, etc... you use it for what you will. they're nice.

Not sure what you mean, the front rack on mine support my bag, and I ride with it all the time, it enough for audax, commuting and light touring.
I rarely ever ride without the bag, the bike was build around it rather than a compromise.

i mean that I'm used to larger platform racks. (ie porteur or standard size rear rack used on front)
they provide support for all kinds of stuff to be strapped on top. lunch pack, briefcase, bag, groceries, large boxes, child strollers etc.
the m12 size and placement closer to the headtube between the bars seems, in my head, to limit the capacity to lunch box sized stuff. -

Love how one of the comments is a correction of the spelling of randonneur.
To be fair, probably more than half the things in that article apply to me, and I have a massive beard. I have no idea what artisan tyres are though, I rarely discuss psi and all my handlebars are a pretty normal shape.
