I want to know if there are any light brackets that can attach to a rack eyelet on my fork-leg. Where can I get one from?
I can get one made for you probably if you're interested. I got one machined for me in by my father.

I know it's a small size, but looking at this makes me wonder how spacer mounter hangers are still around and why any canti forks are made without them built in.
It's such a massively glaringly obvious peice of shit design.
Anyway rant over the bikes nice.

how would you get the fork through the headtube if they were built in ?
unless you mean at the bottom, in which case you'd still need a mount on the stem or something.

Sorry. I meant fork mounted ones. For which you don't need anything above and put it closer in cable routing to that of a road caliper.
The fact that its (last time I looked) not that easy to find good fork mounted hangers with barrel adjusters also adds to my frustration.

Cheers that's good to know.
Unfortunately my new carbon forks don't have a hold to mount one.... which is partly why I'm grumpy. I'm half wondering if someone like bike fix can drill a hole as they've got an alu steerer and (presumably) an alu fork crown.

wouldn't a hanger from the headset work, replace a spacer with one? Isn't that a better engineering solution anyway, being under tension not compression means much less mass for the same strength?
Is there a reason you can't easily have an old style hanger on a threadless fork? -

I disagree that it's 'shit design' for the above mentioned weight/strength benefit but I also think its more elegant.
Headset mounted hangers could do with a bit more drop as the design has remained unchanged since aero levers, which force a tighter bend of the cable.I reckon the best design is through the stem- with an adjuster there but that means non-aero levers or the cable bending up from flat bars.

I made one using a large socket a few washers and a long allen bolt. Really easy and only cost a few quid.

Loved that bike, only thing that's not quite correct is the lack of hood levers.
Nah. They're the Velo Orange Porteur bars, hoods wouldn't work, unlike moustache bars.
Here's a shot of the bars from the top (same bike).

@ absurdbird, I agree there is an old fashioned appeal visually, but I don't think the tension vs suspension forces are great enough that there's a benefit to having a spacer hanger.
More to the point there are two major benefits; 1) cable routing, and 2) reducing brake judder.
There's no reason I can't have a spacer mounted one, I'd just prefer to have a fork mounted one. I'm going to have another look at the fork and see if it can be drilled. It's second hand so no warrenty will be valid anyway.

^ what was that crankset you mentioned the dark red Oak Cycles tourer in LMNH should have had??
TA Specialties Carmina.
Pair it with an SKF bottom bracket.

What lights are those? I´ve seen them in many bikes and look really cool.
-

Soma's own brand, they look nice but not as bright or as good as your average rear light.

Swap the bulbs for some LEDs

may I present.. the dursley pendersen. I am not sure if these have been introduced to you guys before, I have only ever seen one in real life once but it looks like a rather interestingly functional design, you sit very upright on a saddle that is rather like a saddle shaped hammock woven out of slightly elastic cords. It looks very comfortable

It is, felt surprisingly nimble and light to ride compared to a normal Dutch bike, and lighter than one to boot.
Very odd design but would love to own one one day with a full mtb group set.

I love those Pedersens

but that one is a Pendersen
i loved that he was trying to tell us about something but got the name wrong!

Aw DJ.......I was going to let that slide.
But I did chuckle a bit too. Thanks for introducing us to them, though.

I kinda remember a few years back reading a letter by a fellow in Copenhagen who owned the Pederson design asking people not to buy them. Something about him trying to get them made in Germany and the German company stealing the design and producing them for themselves. It was really sad, does anyone else remember something like this? It put him out of business
