Like it! What are the bars?
-
• #2428
Ta! They're just raleigh north road bars. About £13 if I remember.

This is my practical around town bike.
It's nice and sturdy, handles well and most of the members over on retrobike would probably have it off of me in a heartbeat.Fixed ;-)

Another Kona.
I now have a functional rack fitted.
I tried to post it in current projects as well, but the post didn't show up.
The rack is a Tubus Disco with the stays cracked and re welded. The retaining bit is from a cutting ruler.
I just got it working today, just in time, school starts tomorrow. -

^ Nice mod there! I like the slightly split personality of load carrier with drillium cranks.

Anyone running a kickstand on their FBNPNA?
Edit: So I don't have to lean this FBNPNA up against walls / fences / gates
That's what I use for touring...works a treat, so long as you have the brake bands as well...

^ Me too.
Any rec's for CX tyres for my FBNPNA (Original Kaffenback) so I can ride along the local bridleways aswell as on the road....?
700 x 30 seems to be the biggest I can go with my Vavert Guards. Considering Schwalbe CX Comps at £13 per tyre... false economy?

Ha! You're not wrong.

That depends- what are you going to be carrying? Pizzas? Timber? Ladies?

A laptop and work stuff mainly, prefer not to wear a backpack as I get a bit too sweaty. Thinking panniers could be the answer.

^^That's fucking lovely, it looks like it just rolled out the factory.
On the subject of racks, the simple tubus ones are nice. The only thing i'd say is don't put too much weight on it as it will snap the rear dropouts. The reason my Kona ^^^^^is now my town bike is for exactly that reason. I did have it built up as a tourer and i've snapped it twice (below as a tourer).
and just on a "I love Kona's thing" here is the rest of the kona stable.

Cheers Nev, feeling the Kona love. I've got a Muni Mula built up as my polo bike too but can't seem to find a photo.
Sadly had to change a couple of bits on the Fire Mountain (cranks and saddle were shot), apart from that it's all original. I'm running it as a 7 speed currently as it's just for around town use.
Will check out the Tubus racks. -

Here's mine :-)
The frame may be up for sale at some point, as It's a bit small for me :-( & I'm more into the whole 29er thing now.

This is what I'd go for, but it's a bit pricey.

Very nice!
Isn't it a 20"? So how tall are you?
I'd like a good 29er but have nowhere to put it. -
• #2448
How can it be too small when you're running a short stem?
-
• #2449
^^ It's a 21"
^ I'm 6'7" & I loved throwing around twisty singletrack with the short stem handling. For longer rides I'd use a different bar stem setup to stretch me out. Always felt like a compromise though.

Nice! Did you ride there on it?
Thanks! Yes the xtr is a little excessive. But I had them lying around doing nothing for ages so chucked them on the kona for the extremely low maintenance and all over grey look. My favorite bit is the wheels; D521 ceramics on hope Ti hubs. They spin forever and last forever!
