Was out on one of my FBNPNA and found another FBNPNA in need of some TLC. The D'lock + 1 Bungee held it upright for towing, I had nowt else on me...

^ Did you have to fish it out of the water? It doesn't look rusty.

^ Nah, it was dumped with some rubbish bags. I'm not allowed to do owt with it for a month incase the owner comes forward.
I imagined it wouldn't be long before it ended up in the water though, so I rescued it.

I think you might safely assume it's yours now. It looks like it's come pretreated with anti theft paste as well ;-)

I'm veering between a LHT and a Soma Saga. Veering towards the Saga, built up on Tiagra / Deore mix with bar end shifters etc.
Any thoughts on the frame? They are both butted, the LHT is double butted but the Saga is Tange Prestige rather than Surly's own 4130.
They'll both be great bikes, I guess I'm just interested in any experience people have of the difference between the two, if anyone does.

I've ridden a LHT, but not the Soma. They look very similar (are there any differences?).
The LHT is long and low. It's overkill unless you're riding loaded up (at which point it suddenly makes all the sense in the world).

Why not a kaffenback?

I wouldnt worry too much about what kind of steel the frame have as long it's stiff enough to carry a heavy load.
Both bike received high rating, the Surly more so due to history, in the end it's really entirely up to you, if you want the Soma, go for the Soma.
Up to you (don't forget the Thorn Sherpa, another excellent frame).

Why not a kaffenback?
Kaffenback more like a Cross-check than a LHT.
I would classified the Soma as a proper touring frame up there with the legendary LHT.
