That bike look almost like my old Crosscheck but with the weight in the front.
Loved it.

ed, how many bikes have you had?
how long do you generally keep them for?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ed was riddled with cyclular transmitted diseases.

Finally got my dew drop in a usable setup, position is comfy if rather choppy like a speedway bike. No idea how it will behave loaded.

Shouldn't feel dissimilar, is your position of the grip similar to riding on the hood?

It might be a bit unstable upfront on climbs. Due to the lack of weight on the front wheel.
Probably more important that your comfortable on it than climbing handling though.

Ditchling Beacon was a bastard on that set-up with two panniers I can tell you.
It's also why I got a front rack instead of a rear.

Genesis replaced Cross-check;

trying to decide between getting the frame from lynskey in stock geo, or from justin burls, there is barely any price differential
the stock lynskey appears very close to my road fit
similar lead time for either...
-
• #1914
Justin Burls I assumed is custom geo?
If so, go for the latter.
-
• #1915
1299 lynskey f&f
1050 burls f only (but the fork is £130) -
• #1916
I suggested Justin since the idea of having the bike made specifically for your need would be irresistable, i.e. lower bottom bracket height than a typical CX bike.
-
• #1917
You could get a really nice crabon fork for £130 surely.
Do they make the Burls frames themselves or is it outsourced?

I thought the quality of the tubing is higher from Lynskey. AFAIK Burls uses plain guage Ti. You are also paying for 'alledgedly' better weilding quality. Although I dont automtically buy into that. My Fat bike will be plain guage Ti, great bicycle tubing. But for a road mount, I'd be tempted by a more dialled tubeset.
Seems weird to pay for custom geometry you dont need.
Lynskey.
Unless you want to be inventive, and add paragon rocker drop-outs. I have some post mount ones in Russia waiting to be part of my fat frame. I have no real plans to go SS. But being able to adjust the chainstay length according to use, appealed. You could slam your rear wheel in for road duties, then pull it out for off-road ture clearance, or loade stability. Having done some heavily loaded rides on a CXbike. I'd have liked the option to push my rear wheel back a few cm.

Outsourced, like say Carver.
I think its a great set-up,that allows for a price point somewhere between custom inhouse Ti (moots, IF etc.), and taking a risk with XCAD etc.

Balham Waitrose is the hipster hotspot of South London. It's our Dalston Superstore
Why not just triangulate that front support so that a pannier or handlebar bag can be used?
