  • Seller confirmed last Friday he would post next day signed for.

  • Do you know how/where they posted it?

    He possibly binned the tracking?

  • PO tracking receipt is easy to lose (and no electronic copy) but without any info you're basically reliant on him sorting it out for you. If you paid via paypal, open a claim - it will get his attention and you can always shut it if the item turns up.

  • Done. Thanks at @Velocio for pointing this out better not gift.

  • PO tracking receipt is easy to lose...

    No it isn't.

If you sell something and agree to post it, then it is your responsibility to make sure it gets there and cover yourself if it doesn't.

When I sell something, I send a photo of the postage receipt: either to the email address the Paypal payment was sent from, or via a PM on here.

"The dog ate my homework." doesn't wash.

@fussballclub @ the seller here: it gives them an opportunity to explain their behaviour and serves as a warning to both future sellers and future buyers about what is expected.

    Absolutely right you are.

Because it is you, purveyor of my pedals the seller in question here is @Phyllis.

I agree but people do make mistakes, especially if they're inexperienced or careless/don't realise their obligations. This is very good practice - could be added to selling sticky?

  • Ha! Nothing wrong with your memory.

Does your Sister still live in Melton?

  • people do make mistakes

    I entirely agree.

But a lack of communication is rarely excusable and simply telling people what is happening (or not happening) would avoid a great deal of what gets raised in this thread.

On the face of it @fussballclub has a reasonable complaint; @Phyllis has been tagged and can give their side of the story.

No doubt this will be resolved amicably.

    :)

  • She told me possibly your bro - memoryfail, is her neighbour.

  • Cousin: he lives on the corner.

Absolute monster: trains with the local tri club and then does another couple of hours... all fixed :0

  • Light arrived on Monday. All working. Thank you @Phyllis.

  • @fussballclub and @Scilly.Suffolk perhaps some love , trust and an open mind might go a long way. People do have lives that get in the way of things. We are people doing full time jobs and are not CRC.

@fussballclub glad the product is to your liking.

  • Since advertising my bike here I've had several PM's from people that have only just signed up to the site, user65796 etc, it seems a bit sketchy. Anyone else experienced this?

  • ... perhaps some love , trust and an open mind might go a long way.

A long way towards what? World peace? Nuclear disarmament? A cure for cancer?

You're a stranger on the other end of the internet and you expect that which is the privilege of close friends who have known each other for years?

The reason I suggested you were tagged, is so that you could have your say: to provide some balance; benefit of the doubt; two sides to every story etc.

But it turns out that your side of the story is that "the dog ate my homework": so I was right.

Funny how you, and all those who have gone before you in this thread, only get too busy to send messages once you've taken someone's money...

  • I experience this all the time when I find something that I really need/want on some other forum where I don't frequent, and get that sort of response :) many forums won't even allow PMs or posts in classifieds before 10 posts and like a month on the forums, so lfgss is pretty liberal in that regard

Ask them about their bikes, maybe they have Flickr or pedal room account so you can see for yourself if they're enthusiast enough?..

Sold this to the seller last week for 80 with 2 saddles and some unused deda bars. He offered me £50 initially.

Noticed the thread is now locked...

@JamesBradnam well done but at least list on another site.

Oh yeah, and I quote "As I don't know you and this isn't a "secure" way of buying things, how can i trust you?" that was his response to paypal, with me offering to cover the fee.

    Trustworthy?

"It isn't just some random cheap fork. I haven't seen a nice fork like this on Ebay, I think it's worth £100 bearing in mind new it was £150+ new."

No it wasn't £150 new, you just made that up, well done again

  • I still have a cannondale super six fork which I can't shift for £30. That's mad pricing

  • @Velocio as classified ads shouldn't be locked to allow for feedback, could you reopen this please.

  • Here's my original sales thread https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/298880/

Just for transparency, 11days ago £85 took the forks, 3t quill, selle italia and san marco saddles and nos deda piegas, postage and paypal fees and My Hermes insurance covered from my end which meant I took around £70 for all this... including the £150+ forks

  • Thanks
    @Scilly.Suffolk

    Thanks for input

for the record, I have no reproach over the price I sold these things for, I think prices were reasonable but don't want to see other forum members get ripped off

  • My side: I bought the forks for me to use on a new track bike, I thought I bought them quite cheap and so I was thinking, how much would they could sell for, this lead me to creating this thread so that I could see. There is no trying to rip people off, I wasn't even going to sell them just my curiosity kicked in and I wanted to see. I look at this and realise now how this site is different from others with a more friendly manor and feel embarrassed for not seeing this and not treating it that way. The attitudes of others however are very disrespectful as this could have been a matter I could have explained over PM however instead they just attacked my profile which I don't feel is right as I hope after they read this they can come to another conclusion. @at313 @Chak @bikes_knob

  • I recently posted in the wanted forum for a small vintage part I just could not find. No only did someone have the part but they shipped it to me entirely for free on the basis of 'Pay it Forward'. I know its a pretty negative world out there right now, but when the brotherhood/sisterhood of cyclists turns into a hate fest then we really are all doomed. Lets keep it positive, give people the benefit of the doubt and show a little more trust. There will always be scammers, but I have no sense they are praying on people here.

  • The attitudes of others however are very disrespectful

Alternatively, you acted like a cunt, got called out for it, and then went into weapons-grade passive aggressive wetlip mode. I know which interpretation of the facts I prefer.
