What questions did you ask about the condition of the stem and what answers did you receive?
Were the photos deliberately misleading or intentionally obscure the defect and condition?
If there were no photos or they weren't adequate, why didn't you ask for more?
If the stem was noticeably cheaper than the market price you would expect for a stem in good condition, why did you think that was?
Does the price you paid reflect the condition of the stem?
On what grounds would you seek a refund?

None, I assumed that as nothing was said it would be fine structurally, I don't mind the odd scratch but a dent is a bit muchWere the photos deliberately misleading or intentionally obscure the defect and condition?
Photos were from a distance with a lot of other items so it could be perceived as thatIf there were no photos or they weren't adequate, why didn't you ask for more?
Inadequate- didn't think it was necessaryIf the stem was noticeably cheaper than the market price you would expect for a stem in good condition, why did you think that was?
Poor pricing, what I paid was actually only a fiver less thanks what most would expect to pay second handDoes the price you paid reflect the condition of the stem?
Not really noOn what grounds would you seek a refund?
That the item wasn't as sold -

if it's poor condition, send it back. Just say it's not right. Come back here if that doesn't work.

FYI
Paid for a NOS Campag Centaur groupset from Nutsjesmoar (Jan Van der Meer) on Sunday March 9th 2014, I used paypal to send £ 275 + 3% fees.
He said he’d post it the next day and package it well.
I emailed him 3 days later asking for an update, tracking number etc...
No response, emailed him again a couple of days later. He replied eventually ten days later saying he was sorry he must have missed the email. He assured me he posted it the day after payment and that it should arrive soon, but gave me no postage evidence or tracking number.
I again requested information on the package that still hadn’t arrived after two weeks, He sent me a photo of a receipt from a dutch supermarket which showed a charge of 19euro for something and a sales code/reference number (which showed the postage on Wednesday not Monday, a white lie ), he said this was the tracking number. The number didn’t work with PostNL (TNT) or Royal Mail. I went to my local Royal Mail depot but they had nothing for me, and said the code was not a european tracking code. I told this to Jan, he said he’d look into it and said that if I hadn’t received the package by Friday 21 March he’d refund my money in full.
Sunday 30 March, I had received no groupset and Jan had not responded with a valid tracking number or any evidence of having looked into the situation, so I asked him for a refund as he promised.
He has gone quiet since, ignoring all emails, and ignoring a paypal dispute. His last contact was 26th March, and hasn’t replied to 7 emails from me. I have seen him comment of Lfgss forums in the interim so I must assume he’s seen my emails.Has anyone else had an problem with this guy?
I can only advise all members to be cautious of him, I certainly wouldn’t trust him again, He still owes me £283. -

A lot of people on here have traded with him - I think I've bought and sold without problems - and he posts so much across the forum that it's surprising that a transaction here has clearly gone nipples north somehow.
I hope this is explained and resolved soon.

Not quite in the bad trader category yet but it's been over a week with no communication from the seller (Belgium) and over 2 weeks since the bike was paid for...

I've dealt with nutjesmor without issue. Am sure it's an honest mixup.
And ccrash, I'm certain I have seen something about his bad trading before, unless I'm mistaken...

Bought a set of wheels earlier this year with Royce hubs, later found out, that I will need 1.310 x 24tpi lockring, which I couldn't find anywhere, so I phoned Cliff at Royce and ordered one for £15. He charged me £6.50 on top of that for P&P, which he didn't mention at all. Week later no sign of my lock ring. I emailed twice, but there was no reply. Two weeks later I phoned and received a tracking number, went to my local post office to find out, that the address and my surname was misspelled (I emailed my address). The price for postage on envelope was £1.63. Not saying that Cliff is a bad trader, but it certainly didn't leave a good impression after all.

Apparently the bike is now on its way.
He cited family problems. Took over 2 weeks to post and poor communication. I understand life gets in the way sometimes but if you are going through a bad patch then maybe its not a good time to sell something, or inform the buyer before they hand over the cash?
Communication was very prompt up to the point I paid... -

I was left with eyes watering when I had to buy a replacement axel end-nut for my front wheel. £15 for two (I only needed one) then the postage.
On reflection I should have just bought a generic one and had it mismatched, but at the time I assumed it would be Royce-specific. Made me feel fucking stupid for buying British and getting an ouchey bumhole for the privilege.

Ed Burry aka Boysenberry on here that failed to procure the documents saying why a frame got sent back to where he's based in NZ and now has stalled the claim process on Paypal by giving them a tracking number that I found and gave him. A real dick move on his part.
Frame wasn't tracked but still somehow had a tracking number attached to it. It has been 'Not yet tracked' forever. Either he's a dishonest cuntbag or he's trying really hard to stall it for some reason.
Will paypal now review the tracking for a couple of weeks or what? I want my money back.

• #3040
I know in the UK non-tracked 'signed for' services have a 'tracking no.' or barcode attached to them even though it doesn't provide a trackable service and will only tell you when delivered-send Paypal a message asking how they can tell these services apart and how they can rely on it to prove it's whereabouts?
Either way, if he can't prove you received it, he's still liable for it as he chose and paid for the shipping service.

hi guys, i'm sadly here for some advice.
I recently bought a set of hubs from kal_xyo, met him in person to collect, briefly checked the bearings etc and left happy. Since then they've sat wrapped in the same bag he gave them to me in and I literally haven't looked at them for around a week or so as im a student and had 3rd year exams. Today I sat down to see about building them up and upon closer inspections of the front hub there is deformation to the flange. it also seems to have light tool marks from pliers or something in an attempt to reshape the flange.. I have messaged him about it but he immediately told me that the problem is mine and that they were perfect when he gave them to me... i sent a further message asking for a refund saying i will pay the postage back to him...and received an aggressive response saying stating he doesn’t care and it is all my problem…has anyone else had trouble with him? and is there anything to be done if he is simply shirking any responsibility? -
• #3042
Aggressive eh? You're on something dude? Go on, post all of replies here and let the rest forumongers judge. I showed you pics of the hubs that were being offered. You were interested and decided to take them, even haggled a bit. Then we met and the first thing I asked you to do was to check the hubs, didn't even bother to ask for the money or even asked whether you have the money or not. Gave you all the time you need, not rushing whatsoever, and you did give a remark on the front discolouration but apart from that nothing, happy days! Now weeks later you demand for a full refund? Heck I'm no bike shop, even proper bike shop don't do returns on used items do they?
I bought the hubs as used and I thought they're fine, used hubs, no problem whatsoever. Built the front once but didn't have a chance to finish it, didn't even tighten the spokes, let alone use some pliers to fix it?
-
• #3043
Caveat emptor.
-
• #3044
^in this case the seller (me) had no more information than the buyer as I bought them hubs used too. I checked, double checked everything and for all I know they're perfectly fine used hubs. So I was just passing the information from the original seller to him. Feel free to see pics here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/huibqckb4unuzq4/UdDv6htf5C
And hubs' smoothness still definitely very smooth.
-
• #3045
and, as I mentioned, there are not pictures of the front hub flanges from above so no view of the deformation. I had an exam about 30 minutes after we met, so yes, I didn't check them as I should have and am now clearly going to live to regret it. if you checked them as thoroughly you say you would have noticed it so I have to assume you mislead me willingly. I'm not playing any games here, there is no special motive for me where I win and you lose, I just wanted my money (minus the postage which I offered to pay) and you would continue to own your hubs which you class as perfectly good... all that I get from this is slightly less money and wasted time even if you did refund, which for some reason you seem to think is outrageous.
-
• #3046
Mmm. Radial lacing? Such bad idea.
-
• #3047
As said uber_gruber, laced not tightened even the slightest, 0 miles from me.
And as I said hakuna, I inspected the hub first time it arrived, was happy, left good feedback to the seller and half-build the front. Along the way I decided to change the wheelset entirely so it was up for sale. No motives whatsoever to lie here. Been in the forum for quite some time and visit quite regularly, yes not very active but have sold a lot of items in the past with all happy buyers, didn't get the "elite" rep for nothing. Definitely have no reason to trick people.
-
• #3048
well, you do have a reason. right here you stand to gain the money for a pair of hubs you may or may not have known had a damaged front... It is clear you aren't willing to resolve this at all and are happy with it as it stands so i will have to live with it and move on. Hopefully this kind of thing will lead to you being more wary of deceiving people in the future

I forgot to properly follow this up when it happened a long time ago, I thought this guy had stopped using the forum so I figured it didn't really matter, anyway...
A while ago this guy said he'd post me a saddle... the saddle never arrived.... he said he posted it but it'd obviously got lost in the post... Refused to give me back any money then didn't reply to me PMs.
I forgot to properly follow this up ages ago when I posted in this thread asking for advice, so my fault on that one, sorry all. Anyway he's started using the forum again so I suggest he be banned. Not sure who to speak to about this.
http://www.lfgss.com/member33235.html
Edit: this happened over a year ago, here's the relevant thread: http://www.lfgss.com/thread94733.html . Again my fault completely for not following this up, assumed he'd pissed off. Anyway he's back using the forum. I'd rather have the 20£ than him being banned, but I don't see that happening.
Nah that's not unreasonable.
