its easy enough, you just draft her an email explaining what's happened, and send it to paypal from her address. They will then say they're looking into it, if you reference the other case mentioned above then that should help hurry things along. Maybe PM fixiewho and get the details of their paypal claim?

Thinking about elioterio/Win$ton Green is a pretty big plum.
Aside for mugging people off for a fairly paltry amount I also offered him the option of a bank transfer which would have given me way less protection than paying by paypal (or my mates pal)
Douche.

if you'd done bank transfer, you wouldn't stand a chance. Banks don't even entertain the idea of helping.

Really though, what else can you do?
I've not been able to be much help I'm afraid pootsmanuva. I've asked around and tried an old number i had, but without success.
I'll get in touch if anything arises

Winston Green played polo for ages in Birmingham - I always thought he was a stand-up guy. I would never put him down as a scammer, but from what people are saying, it looks like that's what's happened. If I ever see him again I'll tackle him on it.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post or not but if you want anything on time for xmas I'd avoid chain reaction cycles.
Normally perfect service but over the last few weeks I've heard a couple of horror stories about the time taken to order.
Because of this I ordered a few things on monday and chose 24 hour delivery option. I called on tuesday 24hours after the order to check when it would be dispatched. They confirmed 1 or 2 days.
This morning I called to get an update, I was told it would go out today. I just called to check that it had been dispatched. It hadn't so I asked to cancel, as I'm not going to have access to the delivery address after friday until the 3rd of Jan.
I'm told now that it will take 2 days to start a refund back to my paypal account as they have to suspend the order and then cancel it.
So £232 out of pocket, 4days of waiting and nothing and now 2 days to start to get money back into my paypal.

Cheers for the heads-up

Small update. Got an email from them today. Their meant to be sending me a £10 voucher. I emailed them back saying if they didn't start the refund within 24hours of me requesting it I'd open a dispute with paypal. Got a refund within 25mins.
I don't think I'll ever use them for stuff I need quickly again now.

So is here any method to protect your money if payment via bank is the only way to buy something?

If in doubt, insist on paypal (not gift!)
If you have to, add the equivalent of the fee to the total and cover it yourself. Paypal will sort things out if anything goes wrong... it's worth paying a little extra for that peace of mind.
I don't use credit cards, so I'm not sure about the protection they offer.

So guys, out of interest, if I pay a chap £500 for a private sale by credit card via pap pal and the merch doesn't show up there's a good chance PayPal or the cc company will make things good?
-
• #1922
Was the money sent as the 'gift' option on PayPal?
-
• #1923
No money sent, but no, I wouldn't gift it for over £50.

Is it me, or are there a lot of timewasters on this forum? I used to sell a lot of cheap bits on here, then started selling on ebay instead (as it would nearly always give a quick sale even for cheap items). Due to recent unconditional love for the forum I recently put up a for sale thread; three users have promised payment on items, but simply not paid. Some bits were really cheap (a fiver) but I don't see why that should make a difference. Bit of a grumble, but it really puts me off of selling things on here.

Perhaps we should have a bad buyers thread?
I got my housemate to send the cash for me because I don't have a paypal account so it's all a bit of a hassle for her to sort as well as us getting jipped.
Oh well, will try and ask her about it tonight.
