It does mean I get to keep mine inside the house (which need to be in order for it to be validated for insurance purpose).

2 x 46cm 650c BTwin bikes for £150 for the pair. In working order by the looks of it, and cheap enough for a punt.

^^ Hope they go to a good home!
In other news, my Luath small is home and adjusting to her new life. Cantis are a new experience for me and I feel a little nervous about locking her up on London streets occasionally, given how easily the brakes can be disconnected. Will swop the quick release for Pitlock skewers, put mudguards on her then she'll get her first long ride next Friday on a night ride to Whitstable.
Currently undecided whether to keep the cross-top levers so have tucked them under the bars a bit more, so I can attach front lights.
Woop!

Update on the Genesis' new 650B bicycle.
the seat tube angle is a respectful 74 degree which mean you'll have a bigger range of adjustment to set the saddle back if necessary, it helped that it come with a seatpost with a massive setback too.
Genesis doing it right.

^^ Still on my pinboard for 2014, but now that I have 5 bikes I may rethink this. Possibly.
Luath was a success on the Whitstable ride but her rider needs stronger legs (running will help).

Running definitely help, I've notice a difference in my fitness after two weeks of 5k run daily.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, or what the panel think.... ;)

That looks like the gears are on the stem, so I'd be more tempted by this which at least has STI's: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/dawes/giro-300-26-2013-junior-road-bike-ec050645
However, both bikes have 42/34 chainsets and 14/28 at the back which mean a top gear of 73GI which is lower than some here ride fixed. They also both have freewheels, so upgrading will mean a new wheelset should you decide to join the 21st century and get 10+ gearing.
Add in the steel fork, and they are both likely to be weighty, undergeared, expensive options.

They're really bad, that why I don't recommend them, even for children.
I've serviced one a while ago, and was appalled by the components; the single pivot brakeset is hard to operated even when I redo the housing and insert a new cable, the reach is very long for the suggested person height, the lever reach is too long to be operated by a child's hand, it's heavy (close to 11kg on the scale), etc.
I have advised the father that it would be best to put a flat bar and brake levers on it as it'll be far more comfortable for the child, luckily an inexpensive option as the bar mounted levers can be mounted on a flat bar.
You'd need to spend at least £500+ for a decent child/small road bike, much as you would a 700c road bike.

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking for something cheapish that might be suitable for a 10 mile e/w commute until I can get some money together. Think I've changed my mind so many times about what bike - I want them all. After East Beers tonight, might check out a small Surly Steamroller for size.

What bike do you have at the moment?
Cheapest I can think of is the Fuji track but I would need to see how you fit to be sure if you needed a smaller size.

Tiny 48 cm ST / 46 cm TT track bike, Not sure about wheel size, I'd say less than 700C no way you can fit a 700C on less than a say 49 cm TT

Defintely not 700c, and somewhat doubtful it's 650c either.
-
• #266
Old school 26" perhaps. It might also be a speedway frame as that fork is bizarrely straight.
-
• #267
Quite likely to be the wrong way round.
-
• #268
I realise that, but even the other way around, very little rake.
-
• #269
Only 48 cm top tube. Still 700C, but may suit somebody of a shorter stature :)
-
• #270
Top tube is more like a 52-53cm (in theory) as it's a compact geo.
-
• #271
Seller says 48 in ad...maybe wrong but assuming they know how to measure.
-
• #272
They measure it differently.

Anyone can recommend where to get 650c track ready wheels?
^^ Like it! The number of bikes she now owns not the fact there's no storage space for you any more although........................... :-).
