  • What's her inside leg? Heather has a 29" inside leg and saddle height is a problem, even on the Islabike.

  • Will find out, but shorter than 29" I imagine. It's hard finding nice small bikes.

  • Have you considered islabikes? Really good for small people. Not steel, but good quality and lightweight. I think they are good value, too.

  • Agreed. A Luath 26 could be a good frame to slap some nicer parts onto.

  • Think she has her heart set on something with a bit of age to it. And also wants a horizontal top tube, but this may not be possible due to her size.

Saw this for sale on Velospace. In the States tho and they want $600 for it.

48cm Marinoni Special Junior Racer, not sure if it's 650 or 700c tho.

  • Just spotted on Evans site: Fuji Ace 650

Alloy frame with carbon fork, full 10 speed tiagra with 165mm compact chainset. Not cheap at £900 RRP, but reduced to £720 at the moment.

    Worth a look at least.

  • 11-25 seemed very high for a kids bike.

Althought look like a decent women bike.

  • Althought a 24" wheel bicycle, the Jake 24 is a good option for those who need a much smaller bicycle;

Because of its 650 wheels, the gear range is 33-110. Sram WiFli with a compact is 28-119. Looks like a decent setup if you ignore the kids aspect of it. It's an easy change to throw a 12-28 on the back if you need to lower the gearing for kids.

  • Just incase anyone missed it in the for sale forum, anyone after a smallish frame...

  • before it goes on the main forum, my 700c but small person frame is for sale

I'm 5'7 and it was a bit small for me, it was a very aggressive position, so would suit someone smaller a bit better unless your racing or something..

Alan road frame (50 square) and takes an italian bottom bracket, good condition, no dents, paint chips here and there, the seat tube is only reamed for a short seatpost like the camp one it comes with, any more modern seatpost needs to be cut down

Comes with campag aero seatpost, black CK threadless (1" headset) and 1" carbon forks, AND the original chrome alloy forks and a campag athena 1" threaded headset

Ill take offers on the lot or with the original fork and headset only (unfitted)

  • I have some good news.

Genesis is releasing a 650B bicycle that base on their Croix de Fer model called the Col du Glandon, it claim to be a youth model, but look big enough for says, cafewanda.

It have the full 8 speed Shimano Claris groupset which is a lots better than the original 2300 that have a tiny paddle shift on the hood, the chainring is a 46/34 which is ample with the 11-30 cassette on the rear, huge range of gearing for all sort of terrain.

Cantilever brakes, don't know why they didn't just put mini-v as the Claris levers work well with them as well.

Best thing about it, it's well priced at £650, I haven't seen the geometry sheet yet, but it look very promising as the seat angle look fairly relaxed and doesn't look like there's toe overlap issue too.

  • They also will be releasing their Madison track bike in 650c as well, priced at £500, £50 less than the 700c version.

  • Ooh that 650b sounds interesting. Could make a potentially lovely birthday present for me :-).

I may have pulled the trigger and bought a Fuji Ace 650c from Evans which will include pedals, black bar tape and black bottle cage. Unfortunately they don't stock Selle SMP saddles, so I'll have to get that elsewhere. I'm blaming lardboy wholly and completely winks.

His punishment could be to buy me that Genesis ;)

  • I'm interested in both the Fuji Ace and the Genesis.... It's a good job I've got no cash!

  • @ LittleHeather - love that! Make it happen :-). I've put the bike details on my pinboard for next year.

@Scoosh - why not aim for the Genesis as that's more of an 'all-rounder'. We could start a Genesis club next year, with matching jerseys! LOL

The stock saddle on the Fuji was excruciatingly painful for the 30 minute ride home and I had to stop off en route to get the left pedal put on the loosest setting as I couldn't clip in with my left foot but the right was fine, strangely enough. I should put my road saddle on it and ride it round the block now as the sun's out (10.38am) but I've got too much stuff to do, so that will have to wait til the new saddle arrives.

  • Err, I've just pulled the trigger on the Luath 700 small. Who can I blame for this? LittleHeather? Seeing as Lardboy is carrying the can for the Fuji Ace, I think it reasonable that blame is shared, don't you think? LOL

I be confuzzled...you got the Luath?

  • Yes. Islabike Luath 700 small. This one.

As well as the Fuji Ace 650. That be two bikes instead of one plus furnishings for the flat. Shocking.

  • ^ bloody brilliant! Welcome to the Isla club :) Haven't seen mine for 2 weeks as I lent it to a fellow forum member for her annual X event. Getting it back in half an hour or so.
Hope you have as much fun riding yours as I do mine.

  • You do know that n+1 is supposed to be a joke, not an instruction?

  • @ Lardboy. Hah! I was never good at following jokes :-).

Carpeting the flat can wait. I now have a good reason to get the spare bedroom in some kind of order.

kati used to have just the one bike, argue that it's fine and can't see my reasoning for having the magic number of bicycle (7)

Fast forward to now with 3 bicycles in her shed and no room for mine anymore.
