Something was terribly wrong on the roads out there tonight. Everything seemed twitchy as soon as I joined the traffic flow near home. Witnessed a minor accident in Bloomsbury, then there was the rider flat out on the pavement with medics in attendance by the Baker St pinch-point on the Outer Circle. Loads of randomness from all road users (and I even made a couple of uncharacteristic decisions myself). Plus I had a twinge in my shoulder, so didn't bother doing too much of the stuff I had planned after a 4 lap warm-up. Glad to be home in one piece, TBH.

It was a funny night. I almost fell off just braking at that pinch point incident, even though I'd been past it several times, then on my way home saw another cyclist who'd been knocked of his bike and was being tended to by several people.

glad you pointed that out, I thought it was just me. from the start of the day thought I was invisible for cars and peds, then saw a few accidents. bad waves. thankfully most of us made it through the day without accidents. tomorrow will be a better day.
anyway I had a good ride, great to see you all. done about 15 laps in total, from 5:30 and had to bail early, as I had no lights.

Hour of power was more like hour of weakness for me. After about 3 laps, I dropped off, then during my vain attempt to catch, a jogger runs across the street without looking causing me to swerve like a loon in front of traffic. I was pretty shook up after that but did do the 8 laps on my jonny tod, albeit at a pedestrian pace. Hopefully there wont be so much drama next week and I'll be in slightly better shape.
Nice to meet you all though!

Sorry if some of that randomness was novice behaviour from me. Got dropped early but enjoyed the ride and hope to hang on a bit longer next week if folks are out there. Thanks to all.

Was a bit peculiar. Did a few fun laps with a dude in assos gear, black cervelo and another dude in rollas jersey, then buggered off...nice spin apart from the mayhem and the guy at the bottom appeared to be ok.

Also what you said about people just back from holiday, Joe (or preparing to go); plus it was payday this week for many; and the school holidays are nearly over; and the student population is drifting back into town; and the species is a fucking joke on the whole. That sort of thing.

Got dropped relatively early (I was the guy on the white Nelson), but managed to do a few laps with Hovis and ablaze. The downed rider seemed to be OK, although the ambulance was still there when I left at around 8.

Nice to meet the early lot and managed to limpet to Jamie for the whole hour(thank you) pretty much, that was tough. The sound of campag freewheeling behind me made me hate. Averaged 21.6 for the hour in the end.
legs are toast this morning

That was good last night. Pretty hard and seemed windier than expected.
See you all next week. Unless 6pTom is around :s

Ambulance was leaving when I was on my last lap, can't have been much past 8. Never a good sight to see, relieved to hear the victim seemed ok. There's always shit riding round there, more often than not it's groups of people who look like they really should know better (much like Richmond Park I guess). I prefer to be out a bit later on, the place always seems more relaxed by 8.
I had crap legs last night, but fortunately didn't have the garmin to confirm exactly how shit. Was good to see Clever Pun and JAMIE briefly before they headed home (or to the Crowbar).

Was nice to hang on for 3 laps. Im blaming being fixed for not lasting longer. Carried on my own for another 4, I think.
I wonder if it suddenly seemingly getting dark earlier is catching people out. I saw another guy down, north of Camden. -
• #2343
It's definitely much nicer after 8pm. 8pm to 10pm is generally quite a nice subdued window in which to ride around the city.
-
• #2344
^ this. Laps at rush hour are never fun. Plus there's always a few dicks who don't know how to hold a tempo or ride in a group.
-
• #2345
but for those of us who want a blast after work before riding home, with little hanging around waiting for things to quieten down there is little option regarding timing. sad to hear that last night wasn't a good one =/
-
• #2346
Is anyone going to Regents this eve? Probably going for 4 laps after work before Football. Will be there by 6 latest.
-
• #2347
Yet to do any laps around there, what is the situation with traffic/lights?
-
• #2348
We stop at all lights.
I could be tempted Jamie if you don't mind dragging me round again.
-
• #2349
Ahh wasn't sure if there were lights or not. So who's up for HoP at Hillingdon?
