After my 74min in swain, I came there for a bit of spin... well also for say hi, was 6:15 to 6:30, I reckon, or maybe before.

yeah I was going to give you a call when I saw you were doing swains but the timing just didn't line up and I didn't have anything handy with me (wheel, etc, although it appears you're sorted now which is ace). was stuck at work til quarter past, didn't get to the park til half past so probably just missed you. managed to just catch Jamie though, who in super-coincidence mode was pedalling past just as I popped out of the junction into the park.

Light rain shower at 4 but otherwise ok it seems

I went for a small Swaining late last night, having spent early last night being subjected to literary rubbish near Bethnal Green (not my choice, I swear). The event started with a mound of pretension, which was followed by an intermission, a hasty retreat, and a journey North for a little bedtime pain/relief.
I bloody love Swain's Lane, grinding past Karl Marx offered a solid response to the early evening's artsy dribble.

i am tempted by swain's today. anyone?
-
• #232
I'm on the go-fast bike, not the climb-well bike and am thus overgeared, but if my legs are alright I'll do a lap or two of Swains with you, just to prove a point (to myself? to others? I dunno)
-
• #233
If I wreck my knees I'll feel like a right idiot though.
-
• #234
i'm always tempted by swains. if there's people going round at 20, i'd rather do that. i need to increase capacity to go at speed. not ability to get up hill.
-
• #235
I'm on 74" which is definitely not a climbing gear (for me!). Would rather do laps but happy to try climbing if that's what everybody else is up for
-
• #236
ignore me. please.
i was thinking aloud. -

This.
That said, I'll prolly be out on Swains again tonight, after dark, pedaling away from another tedious evening. Office do later. Rubbish.

Speed and circles it is then. Though I wouldn't mind starting with a lap of Swains just to get one done.
Swains is definitely doable on 74", you just need to learn to hate yourself in the right way. -
• #239
depending on numbers, it may be possible to stash bags in my office.

That sounds novel. Normally I sweat right through mine, reducing the contents to a dripping mush. Quite unpleasant.
Maybe I should have kept that to myself.
(Anyone got a rag and some chain lube they can bring? My bike is chain is power-sappingly dry after the last bit of rain and could do with some love)

Sorry not to make it tonight. The connection between my handlebar and front wheel is still tenuous at best, I'm afraid.

Hi 1hr power rangers. I can't do tonight but should definitely be up for joining in next week.
Do most of you do it fixed? I'll probably be on 76" so should be able to keep up anyway.
Swains is definitely doable on 74" because I've done it on 76". Which goes slightly beyond self hate and more into self flagellation. But I'm actually craving a run up it right now.

finefinefine, if we're waving numbers around then I've done it on 84" just fine. admittedly motivated by beer and pizza. and yes, the more it's mentioned, the more I feel like having a run at it...
Also, this:
Hi 1hr power rangers.
made me lol

Ha - wasn't deliberately doing that, god knows what peeps have done on the way to north drinks, 76 was a lot for me though.
I used to live near the bottom of it, so kinda miss it.

Ha ha, but you commute on 84 GI.... ;) Have got some lube with me, no rag, but it's dry teflon so doesn't spray around / gather crap
@Fox - I'm on fixed 74" so you'll have no problems keeping up with me at least!
-
• #246
Done it on 95.5", if we're throwing numbers around. Only did 3 reps though.
-
• #247
The bar has been set!
-
• #248
insane!
-
• #249
"What did you do yesterday evening dear?"
"I met some strange men from the internet in a public park, having previously compared inches with them"
Sounds fine to me

^^ don't forget, you're bringing the lube too.
@bmmf 50x14?
A few laps of the outer circle at pain mph (no computer thing with me today). that guy in the red and white chequered jersey was there again, we tag-teamed it for a few laps, but when I told him I was off he proved a point and disappeared into the horizon. that man can sprint.
Both Metcheck and the BBC aren't too optimistic about the weather tomorrow so I'm probably out (no mudguards to save innocent bystanders from drowning)
