  • Still not at all sure I'm pedalling around with you lot though I did spot adoubletap for a bit. Is the american dude from Eagles Rd club on here? See him all the time and say 'ullo.

  • Eagles bloke did sit in for a while with us

  • Aha - I was in the right spot then. Twas me on the black colnago - will say hullo properly next time.

  • I saw you jung! thought you knew you were in with us. Eagles bloke was out a lot last year too, pretty fast TT-er IIRC, has a thing for 100 milers.

  • What bike were you on jung?

  • @benjam - if you were going to do it fixed, and your aim was to try and stay with the fast group, I'd be looking at something around 80".

a usual no fixed for me, still trying not to buy other bikes in order to build another track bike... it's not working. Mercian restoration costing me this points to arm and this points to leg.

  • circa 38km/h sounds like a great pace though my average on rides is circling 31 - with hills mind.

  • Hey, I've been commissioned by the LCC to get some photographs of cyclists in London. I'm going to turn up tonight with camera, would you all be up for modelling? Posed portraits and action shots, for their new website relaunch. I'll send you a copy of the photo for yourself of course. See you tonight.

    What happened to this?? I

  • brave once again demanding to know where the camera is so he can sprint off into the lens and hog the shot
    /never forgets

  • 1.00...

  • 6pt can be seen in the middle background..

nobody else even bothered to try to chase you down, and while you were drafting a motorbike my speed was all my own. hrumph :(

(that still ranks up there as one of the more enjoyable distance rides I've done)

  • nobody had the legs to chase you down,...... :(

    ftfy

  • I was pestering jacqui about if that was going to be run again. no positive response. yet.

    His name's Chris Baldwin

  • And yes i agree, 80" minimum if you want to keep up with anyone geared under the age of 60.

I'd agree with that. I was out (late) dropped in with the big group that I assumed contained you guys but no way was I holding that on a 72" gear. Did fall in with a smaller group but swung off that with a stitch (lunch time drinking and pub lunch probably not the best idea) but even that group would have been a tough pace on that gear.

  • What bike were you on jung?

Tatty black C50....dodgy italian amateur jersey.

6pt - thought I spotted you dude (were you rocking a new black carbon steed?)

Apologies for the fail. I think I spent most of the time staring intently at the tarmac directly in front of me, as per.....

  • Friday Night - Pints of Power! Fantastic evening for post-pub laps, especially after the gates were closed and the outer circle was ALL MINE. Kinda lost count after half a dozen but the beer just kept me going, think I managed 11 for as near as damn it to 30 miles. Pubs were still open in camden too, so anyone in for next week?

  • That does sound fun!

  • I was too late to meet y'all at the start but I managed to plod along on my own. You lapped me once and I didn't realize until too late. I only recognized Tom when he dropped his glasses and I didn't stand a chance of jumping back on with him at 65".

I did manage to catch up with Nick quickly at a light. So the night wasn't a total loss. And my end time with one stop was 1.14 so I'm sure I can improve on that.

I'll definitely keep coming but I doubt I'll ever actually do a lap with you guys.

  • I managed to get the glasses back though! Still not sure how that happened - when they fell off I was pretty much at the front of the group, was sure they'd have been crushed.

@jung - was indeed on black carbon, not new by a long stretch though - oldest bike I own.

  • I suck. First time doing laps of the outer circle this year. 9min laps, 5 of. I'm sure I was loads quicker last year. Am happy to blame; not having anyone to draft, the wind and having a full bag on my patheticness.

  • Crikey!

No need to be so down on yourself. "Shoulders", would have sufficed.

    :)

  • Chris - shame we didn't manage to find each other on the laps, i hit 1:12 so would have been about ideally matched.

  • ooh is it Thursday tomorrow? I think it might be. Am I just about to apply the final coat of glue to a rear wheel? Possibly... Could this be the Look's inaugural outing? Maybe.
    Exciting things afoot.

    (but out if it rains)
