"Get the Abby Habit: Ride a bike!"
You know it makes sense...

Whoever the next Mayor of London will be, one of his or her noblest offices will undoubtedly be to
restore order to London's finances and toabolishprivate sponsorship forpublic services.A judicious program of libertarian cuts :-)

TFL would never get approval/a mayor would not approve to shell out for a bicycle scheme outright, at the moment. It is the trade off we have to deal with whilst the scheme is in its infancy.
The 7mil that santander are paying versus the 5mil that barclays were should (big should) help to further improve the scheme and perhaps help get it sponsor free in the long run.In my opinion at least...

They could double the congestion charge to fund it, extend it and make it a free service paid for by motorists...
...to compensate for the pollution, injuries, deaths, noise and general blight drivers cause. That would be fair. -

^of course.
But I was talking likelihoods and sad realities here

Wolmar's Wheels has a certain ring to it.
It would be great if Christian became mayor, sadly his chances are very limited. :(
I still hope he can get in there in some capacity, even if not as transport adviser.

Here's a novel idea, we stop tax evaders accountants advising on our tax law, get a more robust system in place, chase those that don't abide, and have more public money as a result.
Barmy I know.

Divvy bikes FTW!
http://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/April-2016/The-Curious-Reasons-Why-Bike-Share-Is-So-Safe/Divvy riders might “look like potential organ donors waiting to happen,” but if so, it’s because of our preconceived notions about safety. Being in a car is certainly being a potential organ donor waiting to happen,
(@Malibu perhaps change the OP to reflect the current sponsors? Or just call it London Cycle Hire?)

There's a new model bike coming out at some point, nicer brakes, much lighter. Been riding it around the office today..

Does it have a higher gear? Spinning out on flats/uphill is so disconcerting!

^ “Our scheme is for people who use their bikes every day to commute to work,” Mr Hares said. “Boris bikes are more for tourists and part-time commuters. We are all in the same game — putting more bikes on the street.”
Nice to see people making it up as they go along.
Good idea though.

Can't believe even they've gone 650b

Will be interesting to see how many more are broken now, the current tank like bikes are dropped and have minor unreported crashes daily.

What am I inside?
Time for a thread title change, perhaps.

Whoever the next Mayor of London will be, one of his or her noblest offices will undoubtedly be to restore order to London's finances and to abolish private sponsorship for public services. Yes, yes, so there are private adverts at bus stops and on the Underground, but this is different.
